Everyone knows that Huawei uses its own processor called the Kirin and its latest update, Kirin 980, is all set to release at the IFA 2018. For those unaware, IFA 2018 is the world’s leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances. IFA stands for Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin. The show will run from 31 August to 5 September. The leak has come through a Chinese website ITHome. The last processor was 970 SoC.
As mentioned in the report, Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 980 will be built on the 7-nanometer FinFET process by TSMC. The processor will have a maximum clock speed of 2.8 GHz for the four powerful Cortex-A77 cores, and the rest of the four Cortex-A55 cores will be for energy/power efficiency. The GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) will be 50 per cent faster than the Adreno 630 GPU. For comparison, Qualcomm uses the Adreno 630 GPU in its top-of-line Snapdragon 845 SoC.
The rumours have not been confirmed yet, but looking at the leak of Kirin 980 just right before the IFA 2018 indicates is a clear indicator that Huawei Mate 20 and Huawei Mate 20 Pro will be the first phones with HiSilicon Kirin 980. For the record, Huawei Mate smartphones will be released in IFA 2018. Hopes are high from Huawei after P20 pro smartphone. The whole incident is similar to how Kirin 9070 was released last year.
