ByteDance, TikTok's parent business, submitted a trademark application for "TikTok Music" with the US Patent and Trademark Office in May.

Users would be able to buy, listen to, share, and download music through the service.

Last November, ByteDance applied for a "TikTok Music" trademark in Australia.

ByteDance has released Resso, a music streaming app, in India, Brazil, and Indonesia.

Resso includes several of the same capabilities as "TikTok Music," including the ability to make playlists, share music on social media, and connect with the app's community.

In May, ByteDance submitted a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for "TikTok Music."

It is unknown whether ByteDance intends to create a music streaming app based on the Resso technology.
