Anne Frank 75th Anniversary: Google pays tribute

Google pays tribute to Anne Frank on June 25 by displaying a doodle video.

The doodles were created by Thoka Maer, Google's Doodle art director.

Toka Maer, a German illustrator, has discussed the importance of preserving the memory of the Holocaust in the illustration process.

Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany, on June 12, 1929, to Otto and Edith Frank. After the Nazi Party led by Adolf Hitler gained power in Germany, the family moved to Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Anne kept a diary during her family's time in hiding following the family's arrest by the Gestapo (Nazi secret police) on August 4, 1944.

Otto, the only surviving member of Anne's family, fulfilled Anne's desire to become a writer and published her diary in 1947.

Since then, the diary has become one of the best-selling books in the world and has served as an inspiration for many plays and films.
