Warner Bros. is continuing to work on a follow-up to the 2005 film Constantine, which is quite unexpected but is a pleasant bit of good news for DC fans.

John Constantine, the cunning magician/demon hunter, will once again be portrayed by Keanu Reeves.

According to Deadline, Reeves will make a comeback along with producer Akiva Goldsman and filmmaker Francis Lawrence.

This time, Goldsman is also writing the screenplay.  J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella of Bad Robot are also producing the picture.

No information has been released on the sequel's narrative or the possible return of other stars like Djimon Hounsou, Shia LaBeouf, or Rachel Weisz.

Cost-cutting measures have also been taken, as seen by the earlier this summer cancellation at HBO of the expensive J.J. Abrams-produced Demimonde.

Constantine made $230 million worldwide, and the audience has continued to recognise the character.

Lawrence, on the other hand, is quite busy.  He is presently filming The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the precursor to The Hunger Games.
