David Beckham partners with Netflix on documentary series
David Beckham has played for some of the best football clubs in the world including Manchester United, where he donned the number 7 jersey, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, where he hung up his boots for good.
In honour of the former footballer, Netflix is developing a docu-series that focuses on his humble beginnings and his iconic football career.
A Netflix docuseries centred around David Beckham was first teased in 2020 and has now officially been confirmed.It will be produced by the 47-year-old’s production company, Studio 99 and will have two Oscar-winning directors behind it. The upcoming doccie will be helmed by American director and actor Fisher Stevens and John Battsek, best known for his work on Searching for Sugar Man.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday 13 July, David Beckham shared that the upcoming documentary will feature unseen archive footage, untold stories as well as interviews with the people who have been a part of his journey.
Jordan’s 2020 series follows the 59-year-old’s basketball career with the Chicago Bulls between 1997 and 1998. Thes series features interviews from Jordan himself and his former teammates, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman.
The documentary will aim to tell the story behind the drive and determination that led Beckham to become one of the most recognisable athletes in history.
With the promise of unseen footage from his life being included in the documentary, fans are really looking forward to it.
