Direct Payments: Few days left to apply for checks of $500 for two year

New Direct Payments worth up to $500 per month are coming for a select group of American citizens. These payments will keep on coming for the next 2 years but not everybody will be eligible for them.

It is a new guaranteed income pilot program that will keep accepting applications through Friday, October 21.

This program is known as the Cook County Promise and it is set to pay 3,250 eligible families $500 per month in no-strings attached direct income for the next two years.

As one of many guaranteed income programs that came up since the pandemic placed the economy in jeopardy in 2020. People need to know some important details as applications will end this week.

According to the program, eligible recipients are only Cook County households that are making 250 per cent or less of that federal poverty level. All applicants need to be 18 years old or older.

County residents who are already involved in Chicago's guaranteed income pilot program, known as the Chicago's Resilient Communities Pilot cannot participate in this program.

People who qualify are set to be selected at random in a lottery. They will be notified by the middle of Nov if picked. This notification will be sent to their email and/or mobile phone as mentioned.
