Ford to recall 2.9M vehicles over gear problem

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 2.9 million vehicles due to a faulty part that may prevent the vehicle from properly shifting gears.

The vehicles are said to be vulnerable to a faulty or missing shift cable, which prevents proper gear shifts.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicle

Each affected vehicle model is listed separately on the regulatory website, totaling 2,925,968 vehicles.

Ford said in its filing that the company is aware of six reports alleging property damage and four reports alleging injury, related to this concern.

Due to a potential power loss issue, Ford is recalling nearly 49,000 electric Mustang Mach-E SUVs and instructing dealers to stop selling them.
