Following Zack Snyder's "Justice League" in 2017, Cavill appeared to have put up his DCU cape. However, the actor has since announced his return to the DCU.

“I wanted to make it official — I am back as Superman,” Cavill said while thanking fans for their “patience” during the process.

“A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends,” Cavill captioned. “The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded.”

Director Snyder chose Cavill to play Superman in the films "Man of Steel," "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," and "Justice League" in 2010.

In a mid-credits scene for the film "Black Adam," which starred Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero, Cavill made a comeback as Superman.

After the arrangement was finalised in September 2022, Cavill began filming his scene a few weeks before the "Black Adam" movie's debut.

Johnson, a co-star in "Black Adam," recently admitted to Entertainment Tonight that Superman's presence in the movie was essential to its success.

In addition, following similar reshoots, "Batman v Superman" actor Ben Affleck reprises his role as Batman in "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom."
