James Bond franchise executives  Michael G. and Barbara Broccoli

Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have disclosed that they are seeking for an actor to reprise the role for 10 to 12 years.

The Luther star has long been mentioned as a possible replacement for Daniel Craig in the role of the super-spy.

“A lot of people think, ‘Oh yeah, it’d be fun to do one,’” Broccoli says. “Well. That ain’t gonna work.”

Broccoli told Deadline that "nobody's in the race" and that production on a sequel would take at least two years.

Each new actor, according to the creators, is a chance to reimagine a part that has been seen onscreen since 1962.

According to Variety, Broccoli is highly engaged in the Time's Up UK chapter and has been striving to develop more in-depth parts for women in a franchise.
