UK declares bank holiday to celebrate the coronation of King Charle

UK to declare bank holiday May 8 to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

The United Kingdom government has declared a special public holiday to mark the occasion of the coronation of King Charles III.

The holiday will begin on Monday, May 8, 2023, which is also known as a bank holiday in Britain.

The new prime minister of the UK, Rishi Sunak, said, "The coronation of a new monarch is a unique moment for our country."  

He added, "In recognition of this historic occasion, I am pleased to announce an additional bank holiday for the whole United Kingdom next year."

The new monarch, Charles, will be crowned on May 6 at Westminster Abbey in London.
