Queen Elizabeth's note to Prince William: What did she write to her grandson?

Following Queen Elizabeth's death, a touching note to her grandson Prince William has gone viral. The message was reportedly written in the early 1990s to accompany the calendar she gifted William.

"William," the note reads. "I hope you enjoy opening this each day. From Granny."

It was auctioned by RR Auction in 2016 & sold to Princess Diana's former employees. At the time the note was seldom-encountered piece of royal family enhanced by its fitting Christmas-time association

William maintained a very close relationship with his grandmother. After her passing away, he issued an emotive statement to pay tribute to Elizabeth.

"I have had the benefit of the queen's wisdom and reassurance into my fifth decade," he noted. "She was by my side at my happiest moments. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life.

"My grandmother famously said that grief was the price we pay for love. All of the sadness we will feel in the coming weeks will be testament to the love we felt for our extraordinary queen."
