Sesame Place Faces Backlash After Sesame Parade Video Goes Viral

The mother of two young black daughters alleges a Sesame Place employee rejected them during a parade.

The Sesame Street character Rosita is seen high-fiving white parade goers in the video.

A video was uploaded to Instagram under the user name "Jodi," in which the character appears to be saying "no" to the woman's black daughters.

“THIS DISGUSTING person blatantly told our kids NO then proceeded to hug the little white girl next to us! Then when I went to complain about it, they looking at me like I’m crazy,” the Instagram caption read.

On Instagram, the theme park claimed that the character was not ignoring the girls, but rather responding to repeated requests to carry their child. Sea World's Sesame Place says that's against company policy.

The statement from Sesame Place was met with a tepid reaction on Instagram, with some people commenting that it wasn’t sincere.

One of the most popular theme parks in the region is Sesame Place, which has been in operation for nearly 42 years in Middletown Township.
