Shania Twain opens up during her Netflix documentary which streamed on 26 July, Tuesday.

This documentary: Not Just A Girl takes you into Shania Twain's personal life, career and battle with Lyme disease

Lyme disease is a vector-borne disease caused by the Borrelia bacterium, which is spread by ticks.

She was diagnosed with this disease in the year 2002. "My symptoms were quite scary because before I was diagnosed I was on stage very dizzy, I was losing my balance," She said.

She further added "I was afraid I was going to fall off the stage and the stage is quite high. So I was staying far from the edge. I was adjusting what I was doing."

"I was having these very, very millisecond blackouts, but regularly every minute, or every 30 seconds."

She recovered from this disease but said that her voice was never the same again and thought she would never sing again

She had two open throat surgeries and physical therapy to recover her voice from Lyme disease.
