Star Wars' newest film hits Disney+ this week. Nine settings decide how it actually looks, and the last one can add 26% more picture.
It arrives Wednesday, September 2, exclusively on Disney+. That is 103 days after the film opened in theatres on May 22.
Jon Favreau's film runs 132 minutes. Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin, with Sigourney Weaver co-starring and Jeremy Allen White voicing Rotta the Hutt.
Disney recommends 25 Mbps or faster for 4K UHD. Test the speed on the TV itself: a phone on 5GHz can look fine while the TV quietly crawls.
On Google TV, open All settings > Display & Sound > Resolution. Streaming boxes often sit at 1080p on a 4K panel and never mention it.
Switch on Display & Sound > Match content frame rate. Films run at 24fps, and without it your TV stretches them to 60 and pans start stuttering.
Set Display & Sound > Dynamic range and color format to your panel's formats. Advanced display settings > Format selection lets apps pick HDR automatically.
Go to Display & Sound > Advanced sound settings > Surround sound format selection > Manual. On the Google TV Streamer it is Audio options > Output format.
On the TV's own menu, choose Filmmaker Mode or Cinema and switch motion smoothing off. It is the single biggest change most people never make.
Roughly 49 minutes were shot in IMAX's taller frame. Check the title's Versions tab: IMAX Enhanced trades black bars for up to 26% more picture.
Change these once and every film on the TV looks better, not just this one. Ahsoka Season 2 is the next big Star Wars date already on the calendar.
