Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra review: A new flagship or we can say a new superphone? Because in the all-new Xiaomi mi 11 Ultra, the features it is packed with, are all leveled up than any other flagship phone and is not less than an Alpha in the market of flagship or other words we can say a superphone. From its ceramic back and quad curve display to its remarkable beast triple camera setup, capable of taking pictures that are not less than to be compared with a DSLR’s, everything stands out of the box. Since not everything is perfect in the world, in this Mi 11 ultra review we will also look at some of those points that out of the line.
Xiaomi Mi Ultra 11 review:
The phone comes with a massive 6.81-inch quad curve AMOLED dot display with refresh rate 120Hz, adaptive sync (30/60/90/120Hz) support, a 480Hz touch sampling rate, and HDR10+ support. Supported with an in-display fingerprint scanner. It offers a peak brightness of 1700nits which makes the screen visible under a very highly exposed area. The display is covered by a Corning Gorilla Glass VICTUS which ensures the best protection to the screen.
Even if you are still not impressed with all these features, Mi 11 ultra has an exceptional feature that allows it to stand one step forward in any flagship race. It’s the rear 1.1 inch AMOLED display on the back panel. This display has a resolution of 126 X 294 pixels and a peak brightness of 450nits. It offers an always-on display feature that is fully customizable. It’s primarily meant for notification alerts and rear selfie previews. And it is touch-sensitive to some limited work like disconnecting or answering an incoming call.
Mi 11 Ultra has a triple camera assembly consists of a 50MP primary(wide), 48MP 128 degrees ultra-wide (with AF), and 48MP 120mm periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. A massive 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN2 primary sensor of size 1 / 1.12 inch is known to be the largest camera sensor to be fitted in any smartphone before.
This helps the phone to capture a large amount of light and perform its best at night and gives well-exposed and sharper images almost free of noise. Photos taken are very crisp and detailed even after zooming. Colors are well-balanced and not over-saturated.
The portrait mode captures very impressive photos with its amazingly well-defined edge detection capability, separating the subject and the background. Even without the portrait mode, the 48MP telephoto lens gives a very good depth of field in the photos. The camera also supports 120X superzoom, and it also gives quite satisfying photos at 120X zoom. But we have to hold the camera very steady or instead use a tripod to bypass shakiness in the photos. Also at maximum zoom, the photos get quite grainy.
For selfie lovers, there is a 20MP front selfie camera that shoots crisp detailed photos in the daylight but lacks those details in the low light. But due to the rear display, this allows us to use the primary camera as a selfie camera which shows the preview of the image while capturing. And the results are pretty impressive.
Coming to the video part, the camera can shoot video in 8K resolution for 6 minutes. The phone has a multi-camera mode, where you can shoot with each camera at the same time.
Due to this big bunch of camera setup, the camera bump is quite thick and big than any other camera bump, which at the starting can’t be pleasurable to many while holding the phone. But after a couple of days of use, one can be got used to it.
The superphone’s engine is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chips, which comes up with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. This delivers a top-notch software performance, while doing any high multi-tasking work or any type of heavy gaming, all goes like butter smooth. Playing Call of Duty: Mobile at its highest possible graphic settings in 60fps shows zero lag and gives an effortless gaming experience. While all these, the phone handled the temps quite well and shows a very little up in the temperature only after any extensive gameplay.
Talking about the UI, Xiaomi mi 11 ultra comes up with its MIUI 12 with android 11. With regular updates, the MIUI 12 runs up with various other features like always-on display, new notification centers & control center, additional privacy options that allow users to remove location info and other metadata while sharing photos and videos, super wallpapers certain kind of dynamic wallpaper that zooms each time when you pass a certain screen. But many things in MIUI 12 has not changed much, so you cant tell that as it skins everything thoroughly.
Icing on the cake: Extra features
And it’s not the end of the story, the Mi 11 ultra, manages to give us more than that. Firstly, it comes with a big 5000mah battery, which lasts for a day after continuous use. Secondly, Xiaomi has given a 55w charger in the box, which charges the device pretty fast. Third, the phone has a dual speaker by Harman Kardon on the top and bottom, which provides unmatched pleasant sound. Fourth, the phone is certified with IP68 splash, water, and dust resistance, which makes it water and dustproof. Even after placing it under the water for 30 minutes, it worked well without any problem.
