On late-night TV, Affleck admitted his three kids mock his love life. One of their lines was so brutal he called it a good joke.
Affleck told the stories on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, Sept. 24, while promoting his new Netflix thriller, Animals. (Kimmel pictured in 2015.)
When he offered his 17-year-old advice on dating, the reply came fast: "Oh, like you're the expert on relationships."
At a bookstore, one of his kids spotted a French novel titled I'm Sorry for Everything and deadpanned: "Oh, look, Dad, it's your autobiography."
Affleck said the kids trade looks when he gives advice, so he knows he's "the caricature in this story." But he loved the line: "That's a good line."
The roasters are his kids with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, now 20, 17 and 14. The pair still co-parent closely years after their divorce.
Affleck dated Gwyneth Paltrow in the late '90s, then got engaged to Jennifer Lopez in 2002. "Bennifer" called off the wedding in 2004.
He married Garner in 2005; they split in 2015. He wed Lopez in 2022, she filed for divorce in 2024, and it was finalized in early 2025.
Animals first had Matt Damon as the lead and Garner as his wife. When Affleck took the role himself, Garner passed, saying it would bring "baggage."
Washington plays the wife of Affleck's LA mayoral candidate, whose son is kidnapped. Affleck directed and co-wrote the thriller.
Animals, with Gillian Anderson and Steven Yeun, hits Netflix and select theaters Oct. 9. Expect his kids to have notes.
