The Malcolm in the Middle star, 40, posted that he had hit rock bottom. Here is what he wrote, what led to it, and what he said comes next.
On Friday, Sept. 18, Muniz wrote on X: "The last 6 weeks of my life have been a nightmare I'm praying to wake up from."
He said the low point forced real self-reflection: "This isn't the end of the story. It's the part where I start doing the work."
Muniz ended the post speaking to readers in the same place: "You're not broken. You're being rebuilt. Let's keep going!"
The post came about 11 weeks after Muniz and wife Paige Price announced on July 1 that their marriage was over after 10 years together.
The pair eloped on Oct. 3, 2019, then held a wedding celebration the following February. Their joint statement recast the marriage as "a deep friendship."
Muniz and Price have a son, Mauz Mosley, born in March 2021. Both said in July that co-parenting him would stay the priority.
On Saturday, Sept. 19, a day after the post, Muniz shared a look at family time with Price and their son — a quieter update than the night before.
This is his second act. In April 2006, as Malcolm wrapped its final season, Muniz said he was stepping away from acting to race open-wheel cars full time.
Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair, a four-episode revival, landed on Hulu on April 10. He is also running the No. 33 Ford in the Truck Series.
Muniz framed it himself: not the end of the story, but the part where the work begins. His racing season and his TV comeback both roll on.
