Tom Selleck Is Back on TV

His first acting job since Blue Bloods ended is a comedy — and it puts him back on screen with a co-star he last shared a baby with in 1987.

The First Role Since 2024

Selleck will guest-star in an Apple TV comedy series. It is his first announced acting role since Blue Bloods wrapped its 14th and final season in December 2024.

Elizabeth Banks Leads It

The series is still untitled. Banks stars as Heidi, a woman rebuilding her life with her kids after a messy divorce.

A Retirement-Home Comedy

Heidi ends up managing her father's love life at his retirement community, which forces an awkward alliance with his girlfriend's grown-up son.

A 1987 Reunion

Heidi's father is played by Ted Danson — Selleck's co-star in Three Men and a Baby, the film that finished 1987 as the year's biggest box-office hit.

Who Else Is In It

Rob Delaney, Katey Sagal, Jared Goldstein and Spencer Moss also star, with Hamish Linklater, Michelle Buteau and Simu Liu recurring. Selleck's role is under wraps.

14 Years as Frank Reagan

He played the New York police commissioner from 2010 to 2024. The cast took 25% pay cuts to keep it alive; CBS ended it anyway, a call Selleck called a disappointment.

The Role That Made Him

Magnum, P.I. ran in Hawaii from 1980 to 1988 and won him the 1984 Emmy for lead actor in a drama. The moustache became shorthand for the decade.

The Part He Had to Refuse

Magnum's producers would not release him to play Indiana Jones. The role went to Harrison Ford. Selleck has never framed it as a regret.

He Is 81, and Still Farming

Born in January 1945, he has been married to Jillie Mack since 1987. They have a daughter, Hannah, and a 60-acre avocado ranch north-west of Los Angeles.
