Acer's Predator Atlas 7 Handheld Packs an 80Wh Battery Into a 7-Inch Frame

Acer unveiled the Predator Atlas 7 today, a 7-inch gaming handheld built around Intel's Arc G3 chips and an 80Wh battery that the company says is the largest in its class. It shrinks the Predator Atlas 8 that launched earlier this year into a lighter body while keeping the same core hardware, and it ships to North America in the fourth quarter of 2026 and to EMEA in November.

Acer has not announced a price for the Atlas 7. That is the one gap in an otherwise fully specced launch, and it matters because the handheld PC market this device competes in spans from budget clamshells under $60 to flagship rivals well past $700.

The chip and screen powering it

The top configuration pairs an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor with Intel Arc B390 graphics; a step-down model uses the standard Arc G3 chip with Arc B370 graphics. Both drive a 7-inch, 1920x1080 touchscreen running at 120Hz with 500 nits of peak brightness, a Variable Refresh Rate mode, and a Gorilla Glass Victus panel on top.

Memory tops out at 24GB of LPDDR5x, and storage goes up to 1TB on a single PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 slot that owners can swap themselves. Acer paired the chips with a dual-fan cooling system, including what it calls a Predator AeroBlade fan with 89 blades, which the company claims moves 10 percent more air than its prior design.

Battery, weight and controls

The headline spec is the battery. Acer offers the Atlas 7 with either an 80Wh or a 60Wh pack, and the device weighs under 750 grams with the larger battery or under 700 grams with the smaller one. That 80Wh figure is unusually large for a 7-inch handheld, where battery life is normally the first thing sacrificed to keep weight down.

Controls include optional TMR joysticks that Acer says have zero dead zones, Hall-effect analog triggers to resist stick drift over time, and a fingerprint reader built into the power button. Connectivity covers dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, a microSD slot, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4. Two 2W speakers with DTS:X Ultra handle audio, and Acer is bundling two months of Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass with every unit at launch.

A concept sits alongside it

Acer also showed a concept device called Project DualPlay Mini, a handheld that flips and swivels into a laptop with a built-in backlit keyboard. The company has not shared specs, pricing, or a release window for it, and stressed that it remains a concept rather than a confirmed product. It carries a small design flourish marking Acer's 50th anniversary, with the text stamped in Morse code on the rear cover.

Acer's own comparison is to its larger Atlas 8, not to competitors, so buyers weighing this against other 7-inch handhelds like the Anbernic RG SP will need to wait for reviews and a confirmed price before deciding.
