What's new in iOS 27.2 beta 1?

Five new Siri AI languages

Apple had said French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish would follow in October, and all five are now in developer testing. Beta testers report that the new Siri already works in Brazilian Portuguese.

The timing points to an October release for iOS 27.2 itself. Apple has not given a date, but it tied these languages to October, and they ship with this update.

The redesigned Health app is live

Apple showed the new Health app at the iPhone 18 Pro event, and 27.2 is the first build with it. It uses Apple Intelligence to turn iPhone and Apple Watch data into advice, not just charts. Two new tabs do most of that work:

Insights shows timely summaries and personalized suggestions based on your recent data.
Longevity scores long-term measures such as heart health, sleep, movement and metabolic health.

Testers have also found new setup animations for a Health Assessment and a Health Age figure. The Health tools are still in beta, so scores and wording may change before the public release.

Smaller changes in beta 1

Apple TV app profiles on iPhone. Profiles came to Apple TV hardware with tvOS 26.2. On iPhone you can now add an existing profile or create a new one, which also brings parental controls to the iPhone app.
Dual capture in Group FaceTime. Group calls can share video from the front and rear cameras at the same time.
More secure erase. The code mentions an option to overwrite iPhone storage with blank data after erasing, for people selling or handing down a phone.
EU tracking prompt. In the European Union, developers can use an alternative App Tracking Transparency prompt, which is part of Apple's agreement with regulators there. This only applies in the EU.
Podcasts and Music tweaks. In Podcasts, "Up Next" is now "New Episodes," with "Continue Playing" directly below it. Apple Music uses less of an app icon's color in its labels.

Why there is no iOS 27.1 beta

Apple is reportedly keeping iOS 27.1 for the iPhone Duo, which launches on October 23. That version is expected to carry foldable-specific features, and a public beta would expose them early. The two releases are expected to merge later.

Two features that Apple pulled from the iOS 27 launch, Suggestions in Messages and automatic password fixes, are expected in a later update. They have not been confirmed in this first 27.2 build.

How to install the iOS 27.2 beta

You need a free or paid Apple Developer account signed in with the same Apple Account as your iPhone. Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates, choose iOS 27 Developer Beta, then go back and download 27.2 beta 1. Any iPhone that runs iOS 27 can install it.

First betas often have bugs, so avoid installing this one on the phone you depend on every day. Back up first, because going back to iOS 27.0 means restoring the phone.

Apple also released the first 27.2 betas for iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS and visionOS, along with Xcode 27.2 beta. Apple Watch is expected to get Audio Intelligence features in this cycle.
