AppleCare One Reaches the UK With Theft and Loss Cover for iPad and Apple Watch
Apple is bringing AppleCare One, its single subscription covering several devices at once, to the UK on 4 August, priced from £16.99 a month for up to three products. Landing alongside it is the change that matters more to most people: AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss stops being an iPhone-only product and starts covering iPad and Apple Watch too.
The UK is one of four markets getting the plan on the same day, joining France, Germany and Australia. AppleCare One launched in the United States in July 2025 at $19.99 a month, so the £16.99 UK figure lands close to parity rather than carrying the usual markup.
What £16.99 a month actually buys
The base plan covers three products. Extra devices are £4.99 a month each, with no stated ceiling on how many you can add — the equivalent US charge is $5.99. Coverage folds in unlimited accidental damage repairs, battery service and round-the-clock priority support, and theft and loss protection for the device categories that qualify for it.
Only iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch get theft and loss cover. Macs, AirPods and other hardware can sit on an AppleCare One plan for repairs and support, but a stolen MacBook is not a claimable event.
The claim limits differ from standalone AppleCare+
This is the detail most easily missed, and it cuts both ways. Standalone AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss allows two theft or loss claims per year on that one device. AppleCare One allows three per year in total, pooled across everything on the plan.
So a household covering an iPhone, an iPad and a Watch gets three shared claims rather than two per device. If you only insure a phone and have an unlucky year, the standalone plan is technically the more generous one. Accidental damage repairs remain unlimited under both.
Excess fees still apply
An approved claim is not free. UK excess charges per incident are:
- iPhone — £109 for theft or loss
- iPad — £99 for theft or loss
- Apple Watch — £89 for theft or loss
- Accidental damage — from £25 for iPhone screen or back glass, £79 for other damage
iPad accidental damage cover is being widened slightly too: it can extend to an Apple Pencil or an Apple-branded iPad keyboard used with the covered tablet.
Which devices you can enrol
You are not restricted to new purchases, which is the genuinely new part. A device qualifies if it is four years old or newer — one year for headphones — in good condition, and registered to your Apple Account. Apple may require a diagnostic check or an in-store inspection first, though that step is normally waived for devices already sitting on an AppleCare+ plan or bought recently.
Existing AppleCare+ subscribers can move across without being penalised. Adding a device already on its own plan cancels that plan automatically and refunds the unused portion. Coverage also follows a trade-in, transferring to the replacement device rather than lapsing.
Is it worth it?
Run the numbers against what you already pay. A top-end iPhone on AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss costs up to £11.99 a month on its own in the UK, with cheaper models starting around £5.99. If you are already paying near the top of that range for a Pro handset, adding an iPad and an Apple Watch under AppleCare One costs roughly £5 more a month than the phone alone — which is where the bundle earns its keep.
One device, or three devices you would never have insured separately, and the maths stops working. The three-claim pool is the other thing to weigh: it is shared, not per device.
