Garmin CIRQA Losing Workouts? Tap Resume, Not End, in Garmin Connect Until a Fix Arrives

Garmin says it is investigating reports that its CIRQA smart band is losing workouts, and it has given owners a workaround in the meantime: when Garmin Connect shows the Activity in Progress prompt, tap Resume, not End. Workouts started with the band's button and then closed from the phone with End are the ones that are disappearing, and some owners say they lost eight or more sessions before they spotted the pattern.

The fault affects the $199.99 screenless band Garmin launched in July. Garmin has acknowledged the reports on its official support forums, passed them to its internal team and started contacting affected owners, but it has not yet called it a confirmed software bug or named a fix date.

The exact sequence that loses a workout

Because CIRQA has no display, it leans on the Garmin Connect app for anything beyond a button press. That split is where things go wrong. Owners describe the same steps:

  • Press the side button on the CIRQA to start an activity, such as a walk, a ride or a football session.
  • Finish the workout and open Garmin Connect, which shows an Activity in Progress prompt.
  • Tap End on that prompt.
  • Sync. The activity never appears in Connect.

The reports centre on one combination: a session started on the band, then closed from the app's prompt. Garmin's own workaround targets exactly that step, which is the clearest sign of where the fault sits.

The workaround, step by step

Until Garmin ships a fix, change how you close button-started workouts:

  • When the Activity in Progress prompt appears in Garmin Connect, tap Resume.
  • That opens the full activity recording screen. Stop the activity there.
  • Save it from that screen, then let the band sync as usual.

Garmin also advises keeping both the band firmware and the Garmin Connect app fully updated. That alone will not fix this, though. Workouts were going missing before firmware 3.20 arrived on September 3, so the latest update neither caused the fault nor cured it.

Can you get lost workouts back?

Garmin has not said. Its forum replies ask affected owners for details rather than offering a recovery route, and nobody has reported restoring a session that vanished this way. If you have lost one, report it on Garmin's support forum or through Garmin support so it is counted, and note the date, activity type and phone you use.

Not CIRQA's first rough patch

CIRQA went on sale on July 24 at $199.99, £179.99 or €199.99, with no subscription required. It is Garmin's answer to screenless trackers such as Whoop and the Fitbit Air, and early batches sold out.

Its first two months have been bumpy. Owners have reported the heart rate sensor failing to restart after charging, auto-detection stopping when a Garmin watch is also worn, and battery drain when heart rate broadcasting is switched on. Firmware 3.20 fixed 18 issues, including treadmill distance drift and alarm timing. The missing-workout fault is the one that loses data outright, which makes it the most serious so far for anyone using the band to log training.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are my Garmin CIRQA workouts missing from Garmin Connect?

Workouts started with the CIRQA's side button can disappear if you close them by tapping End on Garmin Connect's Activity in Progress prompt. The session never shows up after syncing. Garmin has acknowledged the reports and says it is investigating.

How do I stop Garmin CIRQA losing my workouts?

When Garmin Connect shows the Activity in Progress prompt, tap Resume instead of End. That opens the activity recording screen, where you can stop and save the workout. Once it syncs, it should appear in Garmin Connect as normal.

Can I recover a CIRQA workout that disappeared?

Garmin has not offered a way to recover workouts lost this way. Report the missing session through Garmin support or its official forum with the date, activity type and phone you use, since Garmin is contacting affected owners as part of its investigation.

Did CIRQA firmware 3.20 cause the missing workout problem?

No. Owners reported workouts vanishing before firmware 3.20 arrived on September 3, 2026, so the update did not cause it, and it has not fixed it either. Garmin still recommends keeping the band and Garmin Connect updated.

How much does the Garmin CIRQA cost?

The CIRQA smart band costs $199.99 in the US, £179.99 in the UK and €199.99 in Europe. It went on sale on July 24, 2026, has no screen, and does not require a subscription for its tracking features.
