Modern Warfare 4 Beta End Time Moves to 10 p.m. PT After a 12-Hour Extension
Activision has pushed the Modern Warfare 4 beta end time back by 12 hours. The Open Beta was scheduled to close at 10:00 a.m. PT on Tuesday, September 1; it now runs until 10:00 p.m. PT on September 1, which is 1:00 a.m. ET on September 2, 5:00 a.m. UTC, 6:00 a.m. BST and 10:30 a.m. IST.

The extension applies everywhere the Open Beta was already live: Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Steam, Battle.net and Nintendo Switch 2. No pre-order and no beta code are needed, and the download is still a separate item on each storefront rather than part of the full game.
What the new Modern Warfare 4 beta end time means for rewards
The extra half-day exists because of the reward ladder. Weekend Two raises the player level cap from 20 to 30, and the final unlock — the "Beta Forged" Epic weapon blueprint for the Han 86 assault rifle — sits at Level 30. Plenty of players were short of it. Activision has paired the extension with double player XP and double weapon XP, which is the part that actually closes the gap for anyone sitting in the low twenties.
All eight level rewards are available this weekend:
- Level 4 — "Through the Paces" Legendary Emblem
- Level 8 — "First Served" Weapon Charm
- Level 12 — "Meonjeo" Legendary Weapon Sticker
- Level 16 — "Last Charge" Legendary Calling Card
- Level 20 — "Dread Tiger" Operator Skin for Reece
- Level 23 — "Field Tested" Epic Spray
- Level 26 — "Beta Rights" Epic Loading Screen
- Level 30 — "Beta Forged" Epic Han 86 Weapon Blueprint
One thing to check before you play: rewards are tied to your Activision Account, not to a platform. Sign in with it, or the unlocks will not follow you to the full game.
What carries over to launch, and what does not
Cosmetics carry over. Progress does not. Activision has confirmed that eligible beta rewards, including anything earned through the Twitch drops, land in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 when it releases on October 23. Player rank, weapon unlocks and every other form of in-beta progression are wiped when the servers close tonight.
That makes the next 12 hours the only window for the Level 30 blueprint. There is no third beta weekend announced, and no indication one is coming. If you pre-ordered, the next chance to play anything is Campaign Early Access on October 16; everyone else waits for the October 23 launch. It is a similar pattern to the one we covered in the run-up to Battlefield 6's update 1.4.2.0 unlock window, where the unlock time mattered more than the patch itself.
Which platforms get it, and what PC players need
Weekend Two is the inclusive one. Weekend One, the Early Access period from August 21 to August 25, required a beta code or a pre-order and skipped Nintendo Switch 2 entirely — a detail we flagged when preloading opened at 9 a.m. PT without Switch 2 support. Switch 2 owners were only folded in for the Open Beta, and pre-orders for the full game on that platform opened alongside it.
PC players on Steam, Battle.net and Xbox on PC still need TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled. That requirement has not been relaxed for the extension, and it is the most common reason a PC install refuses to launch rather than a download problem.
Content-wise, nothing new arrives with the extra hours. The Open Beta already includes the six-versus-six core maps, Ground War: Combat Outpost, Kill Block: Gunfight, Warzone Resurgence on the Zodiac map, and the playable campaign mission "Entrenched" — the first time a Call of Duty beta has included a campaign level. Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Search and Destroy, Hijack and Inflation are all in the playlist rotation.
If you are grinding tonight
Double XP applies to both account level and weapon level, so the efficient route to Level 30 is objective modes rather than Team Deathmatch. Hardpoint and Domination pay out score for holding points on top of eliminations. The Mobility Course also hands out a Clockwork Charm for completing its challenges, which is quick and unaffected by the level cap.

Frequently Asked Questions
What time does the Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta end?
The Open Beta now ends at 10:00 p.m. PT on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. That is 1:00 a.m. ET on September 2, 5:00 a.m. UTC, 6:00 a.m. BST and 10:30 a.m. IST. The original close time was 10:00 a.m. PT on September 1, so Activision added 12 hours.
Is there double XP in the Modern Warfare 4 beta right now?
Yes. Activision turned on double player XP and double weapon XP for the extended period, and both run until the beta servers close at 10:00 p.m. PT. Objective modes such as Hardpoint and Domination award score for holding points as well as for eliminations, so they level faster than Team Deathmatch.
Do Modern Warfare 4 beta rewards carry over to the full game?
Cosmetic rewards do. The eight level unlocks, the Twitch drops and the Mobility Course charm are tied to your Activision Account and appear when Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23. Player rank, weapon unlocks and other in-beta progression are wiped when the beta ends.
Which platforms can play the Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta?
Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Steam, Battle.net and Nintendo Switch 2. No pre-order or beta code is required for this weekend. PC players on all three PC storefronts still need TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled for the game to launch.
Will there be another Modern Warfare 4 beta weekend?
No further beta weekend has been announced. After the Open Beta closes, the next chance to play is Campaign Early Access on October 16 for anyone who pre-ordered, and the full release on October 23 for everyone else.
