Oklahoma ID Arrives in Apple Wallet as the 16th US State to Support It
Oklahoma residents can now leave the plastic card at home for some trips. Service Oklahoma switched on support for the state's driver's license and state ID in Apple Wallet on Wednesday, 2 September, making Oklahoma the 16th US state where the feature is live.
The digital credential sits on an iPhone or an Apple Watch and is accepted at TSA checkpoints and a growing set of businesses and apps. It does not replace the physical card, and Oklahoma is explicit about that: you are still expected to carry the real thing.
Adding the card takes about a minute
Setup happens entirely inside Wallet. Open the app, tap the plus button in the top-right corner, choose Driver's License and ID Cards, then pick Oklahoma from the list of issuers. You scan the front and back of your physical license, then complete an identity check — a short sequence of facial and head movements that confirms you are the person on the card.
Once Service Oklahoma verifies the submission, the card lands in Wallet. If you have a paired Apple Watch, the ID is offered there too during setup.
Where it works, and where it does not
The practical use today is air travel. Oklahoma's ID is accepted at TSA checkpoints at Tulsa International, Will Rogers International in Oklahoma City, Stillwater Regional and Lawton-Fort Sill Regional, plus more than 250 airports across the country that take Apple Wallet IDs.

The important limit: Apple Wallet IDs are generally not accepted by law enforcement. A traffic stop still requires the physical Oklahoma credential, and so does anything else the state has not signed off on. Treat the digital version as an addition, not a replacement.

The pace has picked up noticeably — Virginia went live only a week before Oklahoma. If your state is not on the list
There is no way to add an unsupported state's license, because the issuing agency has to build and certify the credential itself. One workaround exists for travel: Apple's Digital ID feature can generate a pass from a US passport, which TSA accepts at checkpoints even if your state has no mobile ID program.
Android users in Oklahoma are not covered by this announcement. Service Oklahoma's rollout is Apple Wallet only for now, with no Google Wallet date attached.
