Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Drops to $39.99 for Good, and Year 2 Starts November 3 With Free Bayonetta

SEGA has permanently cut the price of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds: the Standard Edition now costs $39.99, down from $69.99, and the Digital Deluxe Edition drops from $89.99 to $59.99, effective immediately. The cut applies on every platform the game sells on: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and PC via Steam.
The new pricing was announced alongside the game's Year Two roadmap during the World Championship Finals livestream on October 10. Year Two starts on November 3, 2026, with a free 1v1 Duel Mode, Bayonetta as a free unlockable racer, and the first of six paid packs in a new $29.99 Season Pass.
What does Sonic Racing CrossWorlds cost now?
All prices below are SEGA's US dollar list prices. The two existing editions are cheaper from today, and two new editions are being added.
- Standard Edition: $39.99 (was $69.99)
- Digital Deluxe Edition: $59.99 (was $89.99)
- Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition: $59.99, which bundles the Standard Edition with Season Pass Two
- Year One Edition (physical): $59.99 at select retailers, with the Standard Edition, Season Pass One, a reversible 35th Anniversary cover sheet and a 35th Anniversary logo patch
- Season Pass Two: $29.99
One warning from SEGA itself: if you already own the game, do not buy the Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition. It includes another copy of the Standard Edition, so owners should buy Season Pass Two on its own for $29.99 instead.
What's free in the Year Two update on November 3?
The free side of Year Two is bigger than a character drop. On day one, every owner gets:
- Duel Mode, a head-to-head 1v1 mode built around items, with a Duel Boost gauge that fills over time and full visibility of your rival's items, gadgets and position. It has offline Rival Duel matches against CPU opponents, online free matches, limited-time Best-of-10 events with Duel Class ranks and medals, and friend matches with custom rules.
- Bayonetta, unlocked by playing Rival Duel matches.
- A new Grand Master Plate that adds a seventh "Super Slot" for boosting one-slot gadgets, plus 15 new gadgets.
- Every free and paid character released since the September 25, 2025 launch showing up as CPU racers in online and offline modes.
Two more free racers follow. A McLaren Racing machine, driven by Sonic in McLaren's papaya and anthracite livery, arrives later in November. Aigis from Persona arrives in early 2027 with her own Palladion Dressy kart. Each free character comes with a 10-day themed Festival event.
Which DLC packs are in Season Pass Two?
The $29.99 pass covers six paid packs spread across a full year. SEGA lists the packs as available individually too, but has not given single-pack prices.
- Godzilla Pack (November 3, 2026): Godzilla Escape course and Godzilla, King Ghidorah and Mothra machines
- Evangelion Pack (January 2027): Tokyo-3 course, Rei and Asuka as racers, and EVA-00, EVA-01 and EVA-02 machines
- Virtual Sanrio Puroland Pack (Q2 2027): a course based on the Sanrio theme park, with Hello Kitty and Kuromi as racers
- SEGALAND Pack (Q3 2027): a SEGALAND course and After Burner, OutRun and Super Megalo machines
- Midgar Pack (working title, Q3 2027): content from the Final Fantasy VII Remake series
- Reload Revival Royal Pack (Q4 2027): content from the Persona series
Pass holders also get two bonuses. A SEGA Controllers decal pack with Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast controller decals is already live, and a SEGA Consoles Pack turning the US Genesis, Japanese Saturn and European Dreamcast into machines lands on November 3. Owners of both Season Pass One and Season Pass Two also get Super Shadow and his Super Dark Flare machine that day.
SEGA has said little so far about what the Final Fantasy VII and Persona packs contain beyond the series they come from. Treat any character lists for those two as unconfirmed until SEGA publishes them.
Is it worth buying at $39.99?
At $39.99 the game now sits well under most full-price racers on Switch 2, where the obvious rival is Nintendo's own kart game. If you want to compare, our rundown of the Mario Kart World update that added 10 Super Mario Kart tracks covers what Nintendo is giving away for free right now. CrossWorlds' advantage is crossplay across PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC, which keeps online lobbies full on every machine.
For new players, the Year Two Digital Deluxe Edition at $59.99 is the cleanest buy: the game plus every pack due through late 2027.
