How to Get the "On a Mission" Title in PUBG Mobile & BGMI (2026): Kill Counts, Grind Order & Weapon Master

On a mission title in PUBG

To get the "On a Mission" title in PUBG Mobile and BGMI you must push all six Weapon Mastery achievements to Level V — roughly 2,000 kills each with Assault Rifles and SMGs, 1,000 each with Snipers and Shotguns, and 200 each with Pistols and Melee weapons. There is no event, no purchase and no shortcut: the moment the sixth class hits Mastery V, the Mythic-tier title unlocks automatically and pays out 60 achievement points.

Two different titles get tangled up in these searches, so let's be precise. On a Mission is the long-haul mastery grind above. Weapon Master is a separate one-match challenge — six kills with six different weapon categories in a single solo Classic match at Platinum tier or above — and it is the title BGMI players ask about most. This guide covers both in full: the exact kill counts, the fastest mode for each weapon, the smartest order, and a step-by-step Weapon Master route. Everything is verified against PUBG Mobile 4.5 and BGMI 4.5 — the Naruto Shippuden updates live right now — and the Season 31 ranked season that runs 16 July to 11 September 2026.

On a Mission title requirements in PUBG Mobile

What is the "On a Mission" title?

"On a Mission" is a Mythic-tier title that sits beside your name in the lobby, on the kill feed and on the results screen for everyone to see. Unlike tier titles such as Ace or Conqueror that have to be re-earned every season, this one is permanent once unlocked. It is purely cosmetic — there is no stat boost — but it is one of the hardest titles in the game to fake, because the only way to get it is to grind every weapon class, including the ones nobody enjoys.

Despite the name, it has nothing to do with the mission tab, the Royale Pass or any limited-time event. The single condition is the six Weapon Mastery achievements below. If you have been playing for a while, open your Achievements screen before you plan anything — most veterans discover their AR and SMG bars are already half full from normal play.

On a Mission vs Weapon Master: which title are you actually after?

Search for "mission title" or "weapon title" and guides for these two get mashed together, but they are completely different challenges:

The 6 Weapon Mastery achievements you need

Each weapon class has its own Mastery achievement that tops out at Level V, and you need all six there. Here is the full breakdown with the cumulative kill target for the final tier and the weapons that count toward each class. These counts have held stable across updates for years, but the in-game bar is always the source of truth — check it after every session.

MasteryKills for Level VWeapons that countDifficulty
Assault (AR) Mastery V~2,000M416, AKM, M762 (Beryl), SCAR-L, ACE32, AUG, Groza, G36C, M16A4, QBZEasy
SMG Mastery V~2,000UMP45, Uzi, Vector, Thompson, MP5K, P90, PP-19 BizonEasy
Sniper Mastery V~1,000Kar98k, M24, AWM, Win94, Mosin-NagantMedium
Shotgun Mastery V~1,000S1897, S686, S12K, DBS, O12Hard
Pistol Mastery V~200P18C, P92, R1895, P1911, Deagle, SkorpionEasy
Melee Mastery V~200Pan, Crowbar, Machete, SickleEasy

Add it up and you are looking at roughly 6,400 kills across the six tracks. That volume is exactly why the title is rare — and why grinding it in the wrong modes is so painful.

The rule that catches everyone out: stick to Classic matches, Arcade modes and Training to reliably build Weapon Mastery. Arena modes like Team Deathmatch (TDM), Domination and Gun Game are widely reported to contribute little or nothing to mastery progress, and Payload / War mode is best avoided for grinding too. The same caution applies to limited-time themed modes: 4.5's Naruto: Ninjas Assemble is great fun, but we could not verify that its kills feed the mastery bars, so bank your grind in standard Classic and Arcade. If your bar has stalled despite hours of play, the mode is almost always the reason.

How to complete each mastery the fast way

1. Assault (AR) Mastery V — the easiest heavy target

The AR is the default fight weapon for almost everyone, so this fills up on its own. Run the M416, AKM or the ACE32, drop into hot zones in Classic, and the kills stack naturally. To speed it up, queue Arcade Quick Match on Erangel or Livik where engagements come fast and looting downtime is minimal. Most active players clear AR Mastery V without ever consciously grinding it.

2. SMG Mastery V — play aggressive, fight indoors

Same kill count as AR, but slightly more deliberate. SMGs shine in close quarters, so you have to seek the fight. The Uzi and Vector are brutal in tight indoor rooms — Pochinki, Bootcamp, the Livik resort and dock buildings. Drop hot, clear compounds room by room, and keep an SMG as your primary instead of swapping to an AR. Livik's tiny map means constant contact, which is exactly what you want — and the SMG balance pass that shipped with the 4.5 update makes the class feel a touch stronger right now.

3. Sniper Mastery V — farm it in Sniper Training

Snipers are hard to land kills with under pressure, so use the right environment. Sniper Training (Arcade) is the cleanest way to farm these — it is purpose-built, enemies respawn and there is zero looting downtime. Mix in Classic kills with the Kar98k or M24 when the chance appears. Do not wait on the AWM; it only spawns in care packages, and the Kar98k does the heavy lifting at this range.

4. Shotgun Mastery V — the bottleneck for almost everyone

This is where most players stall. Shotguns are short-range only, and you will never naturally rack up ~1,000 kills in normal play. Two tactics break the wall: watch the Arcade rotation for shotgun-only / mini-zone modes that occasionally appear and let you farm pure shotgun kills, and in Classic, commit to dropping hot, grabbing an S1897 or S686 early and pushing buildings. Crucially, finishing a knocked enemy with a shotgun counts as a shotgun kill — so in duo and squad Classic, always secure your downs with the pump, never the rifle.

5. Pistol Mastery V — only ~200 kills, knock it out early

With roughly 200 kills, this is fast. The full-auto P18C and the Skorpion are the move — both fire automatically and accept extended mags, so they behave like mini-SMGs at close range. Drop hot, grab a pistol immediately, and clean up the early-game scramble before anyone gets a rifle online. A handful of aggressive matches clears it.

6. Melee Mastery V — fun and quick at ~200 kills

Also around 200 kills, and genuinely enjoyable to grind. The Arcade melee-only mode, when it is in rotation, is ideal. In Classic, the Pan is the iconic pick — it doubles as back armour that blocks bullets. As with shotguns, a melee finish on a knocked enemy counts, so in duos and squads, once you down someone, run up and pan them instead of shooting. Early-game pre-loot scuffles are pure melee gold.

Best grinding order and modes

If you want the title as fast as possible, clear the cheap masteries first for quick wins and momentum, then commit to the long grind:

  1. Pistol (~200) and Melee (~200) — finish these first; a day or two of focused play each.
  2. Sniper (~1,000) — farm in Sniper Training, by far the most efficient mode for it.
  3. Assault (~2,000) and SMG (~2,000) — let these accumulate naturally through Classic and Arcade.
  4. Shotgun (~1,000) — save for last and ride the shotgun-only / mini-zone Arcade rotations.

Quick cheat sheet for where each weapon farms fastest:

ModeBest forWhy
Arcade Quick Match (Livik)AR & SMGTiny map, constant engagements, minimal looting
Sniper TrainingSniperBuilt for it; enemies respawn, no downtime
Shotgun-only / Mini-Zone rotationsShotgun & MeleeThe only sane way to bulk-farm short-range kills
Classic hot dropsPistol, Melee, ShotgunPre-loot scrambles favour pistols, pans and pumps

How to get the Weapon Master title in PUBG Mobile & BGMI (2026)

Weapon Master is the other "weapon title" — an Epic-tier Glorious Moments achievement that, unlike On a Mission, can be done in a single night. The requirement is identical in PUBG Mobile and BGMI, and once it pops it is yours permanently, even after the season resets.

The exact requirement: while ranked Platinum tier or above in the current season, get all six of these kills in a single solo Classic match:

  1. 1 kill with an Assault Rifle (M416, AKM, SCAR-L...)
  2. 1 kill with an SMG (UMP45, Uzi, Vector...)
  3. 1 kill with a Sniper Rifle (Kar98k, M24, Win94...)
  4. 1 kill with a Shotgun (S1897, S686, S12K...)
  5. 1 kill with a Throwable — a frag grenade is the cleanest credit
  6. 1 kill with a Vehicle — run an enemy down; the kill is credited to the vehicle

You do not need to win the match, and the order does not matter. The moment the sixth category registers, the achievement completes — finish the match (die, or play it out) and claim the title from your Achievements screen. Only the final blow decides which category a kill counts for, so a target you softened with your AR still counts as a grenade kill if the grenade lands the killing hit.

Step 1: reach Platinum early in the season

Season 31 started on 16 July 2026 and runs to 11 September 2026 in both PUBG Mobile and BGMI, and the weeks right after a rank reset are the best window for this title. Platinum sits at 2,700 rank points, lobbies at Gold and Platinum are noticeably softer early in a season, and solo Classic matches at that level are seeded with bots — ideal targets for the awkward vehicle and throwable kills. Under the 2026 Season Ascension ranked system, promotion matches only gate Ace and above, so nothing blocks a quick push to Platinum.

Step 2: pick the right map and drop

Erangel and Livik are the best maps for the attempt. Erangel has vehicle spawns everywhere and mid-density towns; Livik compresses everything so you meet enemies constantly. Land slightly off a mid-tier town — not the hottest drop — and loot until you hold an AR, an SMG or shotgun, a bolt-action, and at least two frag grenades. Keep a vehicle parked nearby from the moment you land.

Step 3: bank the vehicle and throwable kills first

These two are the run-killers, so take them the moment a safe target appears. Bots are the cleanest victims: they wander in the open, stop to shoot in slow bursts, and barely dodge. Run one down for the vehicle kill, and cook a frag onto another — or soften a real enemy with gunfire and let the grenade land the final blow. Do not save these for the endgame; late circles are too sweaty for a grenade finish, and driving a car in the final zone paints a target on you.

Step 4: clean up the gun kills and see the match out

With vehicle and throwable banked, the rest is a normal solo game: AR and SMG kills come naturally, hold the shotgun for building fights, and take the sniper kill on a looter or a bot at range — the Win94 on Livik is forgiving if the Kar98k feels risky. Remember there are no knockdowns in solo: every hit that drops a target to zero is an instant kill for whatever weapon dealt it, so swap to the category you still need before you commit to a fight. If solo Classic is not your comfort zone, our guide to winning more solo games covers the rotations and fight-picking that keep you alive long enough to finish the checklist.

Playing BGMI? The small differences that matter

BGMI's achievement and title system is identical to PUBG Mobile's, so the Weapon Master requirement — Platinum or above, one solo Classic match, six kill categories — is exactly the same. BGMI's 4.5 update landed on 16 July 2026 with the same Naruto Shippuden crossover (plus a Spider-Man mode from 30 July), and Season 31 follows the same dates, so the early-season bot window applies there too. One naming quirk to know: the 3-headshot title that PUBG Mobile calls Sharpshooter appears as Deadeye in BGMI — but Weapon Master and On a Mission keep the same names in both games.

Titles you unlock on the way (Warhorse and Veteran)

The mastery grind is not all-or-nothing. PUBG Mobile and BGMI reward partial progress with two stepping-stone titles, so you have something to show off long before the full set is done:

TitleTierMasteries required
WarhorseEpicAny 2 of 6 masteries at Level V
VeteranLegendaryAny 4 of 6 masteries at Level V
On a MissionMythicAll 6 masteries at Level V (60 achievement points)

So by the time you have ground out Pistol, Melee, Sniper and SMG, you will already be wearing the Legendary Veteran title with only Assault and Shotgun left to clear for the Mythic.

Every other permanent title worth chasing in 2026

Once you know how the two big "weapon titles" work, the rest of the title system is easy to map. These are the permanent, achievement-based titles in PUBG Mobile and BGMI right now, ordered roughly from easiest to hardest:

TitleRarityHow to unlock

Glass CannonMythicWin 50 solo matches without ever picking up a vest, helmet or backpack
On a MissionMythicAll 6 Weapon Mastery achievements at Level V
OverachieverMythicReach 2,800 total achievement points
Unique DestinyMythicReach 6,000 achievement points — the cap, and the rarest title in the game

Two pointers from grinding these ourselves. First, Sharpshooter is the best value Glorious Moment in the game — it looks elite but falls in one or two sessions with the right method; our Sharpshooter title walkthrough covers the exact rifle, map and bot-farming route. Second, the Royale Pass titles are money grinds, not skill grinds — if you buy the pass anyway, see our Perseverance title guide for the cheapest way through. And note the loop at the heart of the system: On a Mission's 60 points, plus everything the six masteries pay out along the way, is one of the biggest single pushes toward Overachiever and Unique Destiny.

Seasonal tier titles are a different animal. Ace (4,200 points), Ace Master (4,700), Ace Dominator (5,200) and Conqueror (top 500 of the Ace Dominator leaderboard) must be re-earned every season and display with the season tag. Under the 2026 Season Ascension overhaul they are harder than they used to be: reaching Ace and above now requires promotion matches — a run of strong placements, three in a row for Ace, four for Ace Master, five for Ace Dominator. Tier titles earned right now carry the Season 31 tag (16 July – 11 September 2026).

Common mistakes that waste your time

  • Relying on TDM, Domination or War mode for mastery. Those Arena modes are widely reported to add little or nothing to Weapon Mastery. Stay in Classic, Arcade or Training and watch the bar.
  • Grinding in limited-time themed modes. The Naruto: Ninjas Assemble mode in 4.5 is not a verified source of mastery progress — enjoy it, but bank your kill counts in standard Classic.
  • Attempting Weapon Master in duo or squad. The requirement is a solo Classic match. Kills in team modes will not complete it, no matter how perfect the spread.
  • Waiting for the AWM or DBS. Care-package weapons are far too rare to grind with — use the common guns in each class instead.
  • Ignoring knocked-player finishes in team modes. For the mastery grind, a melee or shotgun finish on a downed enemy counts as a kill for that weapon. Use it deliberately in duos and squads to push your two hardest bars.
  • Spreading kills thin. Commit to one weapon class per session so progress is visible and you do not burn out chasing six bars at once.
  • Not checking the bar. The in-game Mastery tab is the real source of truth — confirm the count is rising before you sink hours into a method.

How to check your mastery and title progress

Open Achievements → Weapon Mastery (or the dedicated Mastery tab) from your profile. Each weapon class shows a tier bar from Level I to Level V with your current kill count, and Glorious Moments like Weapon Master show a simple done / not-done state. Track the bars after every session so you always know which mastery is closest to popping, and prioritise that one. Once a title unlocks, equip it from Profile → Titles — unlocking does not auto-display it.

How we put this guide together

We grind achievement titles in PUBG Mobile and BGMI ourselves, so the order above is the one we have actually used to push masteries to Level V — cheap Pistol and Melee tracks first, Sniper farmed in Sniper Training, Shotgun saved for the Arcade rotations. For this 2026 refresh we re-verified the current game state: PUBG Mobile 4.5 (live 9 July to 7 September 2026) and BGMI 4.5 (16 July 2026), the Season 31 ranked window of 16 July to 11 September 2026, and the Season Ascension tier ladder with its promotion matches. We cross-checked the mastery kill counts (2,000 / 2,000 / 1,000 / 1,000 / 200 / 200), the Warhorse–Veteran–On a Mission ladder and the Weapon Master requirement — Platinum+, solo Classic, AR / SMG / sniper / shotgun / throwable / vehicle — against the in-game Achievements tab and multiple current title guides, and they agree. Where a number can drift between versions, we flag it as approximate and point you to the in-game bar as the authority; the mode advice (Classic, Arcade and Training count reliably, Arena modes do not) reflects consistent community reporting rather than an official ruling, so we say so.

Bottom line

"On a Mission" is a long-haul title, not a weekend project — realistically a few weeks of focused play, with Shotgun Mastery testing your patience. But there is zero luck involved: clear all six masteries at Level V and the Mythic title is yours for good, with Warhorse and Veteran landing along the way. Knock out Pistol and Melee first, farm Sniper Training, ride the Arcade rotations for Shotgun, and let AR and SMG accumulate as you play. And if you want a title this week rather than this month, push to Platinum early in Season 31 and run the Weapon Master route — one solo Classic match, six kill categories, permanent Epic title. Both games, same grind, same reward.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do you need for the On a Mission title in PUBG Mobile?

You need to complete all six Weapon Mastery achievements at Level V: roughly 2,000 kills with Assault Rifles, 2,000 with SMGs, 1,000 with Sniper Rifles, 1,000 with Shotguns, 200 with Pistols and 200 with Melee weapons. Once the sixth one reaches Level V, the Mythic title unlocks automatically along with 60 achievement points. There is no event or purchase that grants it, and the requirement is identical in PUBG Mobile and BGMI.

How do you get the Weapon Master title in BGMI and PUBG Mobile?

While ranked Platinum tier or above, get six kills in a single solo Classic match, one with each category: an Assault Rifle, an SMG, a Sniper Rifle, a Shotgun, a throwable (a frag grenade is the cleanest option) and a vehicle run-over. You do not need to win the match, only the final blow decides which category a kill counts for, and the requirement is the same in both BGMI and PUBG Mobile. The easiest window is early in the season, when Platinum solo lobbies contain more bots for the vehicle and grenade kills.

What is the difference between On a Mission and Weapon Master?

On a Mission is a Mythic long-term grind: all six Weapon Mastery achievements at Level V, around 6,400 total kills accumulated across any Classic, Arcade and Training play. Weapon Master is an Epic single-match challenge: six kills with six different weapon categories in one solo Classic match while Platinum or above. Both titles are permanent once earned, but Weapon Master can be finished in an evening while On a Mission takes weeks.

Is the On a Mission title the same in BGMI?

Yes. Battlegrounds Mobile India shares the same achievement and Weapon Mastery system as PUBG Mobile, so On a Mission unlocks identically: reach Weapon Mastery Level V on all six weapon categories. The kill counts and grind methods apply the same in both games. The only naming difference in the title system is that PUBG Mobile's Sharpshooter title is called Deadeye in BGMI.

Do TDM kills count toward Weapon Mastery in PUBG Mobile?

Not reliably. To build Weapon Mastery you should grind in Classic matches, Arcade modes and Training. Arena modes such as Team Deathmatch (TDM), Domination and Gun Game, along with Payload/War mode, are widely reported to add little or nothing to your mastery bars, which is why grinding TDM often feels like it does nothing. Limited-time themed modes like 4.5's Naruto mode are also unverified for mastery progress. Always confirm against the in-game Mastery tab after a session.

Which mastery is the hardest for the On a Mission title?

Shotgun Mastery V is the hardest because it needs around 1,000 kills with short-range-only weapons, which you rarely accumulate in normal play. The most efficient way is to farm the periodic shotgun-only and mini-zone Arcade modes, hot-drop in Classic, and always finish knocked enemies with an S1897 or S686 in duo and squad games.

How long does it take to get the On a Mission title?

For an active player, expect a few weeks of focused grinding. The Pistol and Melee masteries (around 200 kills each) can be done in a couple of days, Sniper and SMG take longer, and Shotgun is usually the final bottleneck that decides how fast you finish. By contrast, the one-match Weapon Master title can fall in a single evening of attempts.

What titles do I unlock before On a Mission?

You earn the Epic Warhorse title for completing any 2 of the 6 masteries, and the Legendary Veteran title for completing any 4 of 6. On a Mission is the Mythic reward for clearing all six at Level V, and its 60 achievement points also push you toward the point-gated Overachiever (2,800 points) and Unique Destiny (6,000 points) titles.

Is the Weapon Master title permanent or seasonal?

Permanent. Like all achievement titles (On a Mission, Sharpshooter, Pacifist and the rest), Weapon Master stays unlocked forever once earned. Only ranked tier titles such as Ace, Ace Master, Ace Dominator and Conqueror are seasonal and must be re-earned. You do need to be Platinum or above in the current season at the moment you attempt Weapon Master — in Season 31 that means climbing to 2,700 rank points before your run.

Does finishing a knocked enemy count toward Weapon Mastery?

Yes. In duo and squad Classic, finishing a downed (knocked) enemy with a weapon counts as a kill for that weapon class, which is the key trick for the Shotgun and Melee masteries — always secure your downs with the pump shotgun or a melee weapon. Note this does not apply to the Weapon Master title attempt, since that must be done in solo mode, where there are no knockdowns and every elimination is instant.
