Metroid Ravenous File Size Is 20.2GB on Switch 2, With 120Hz and HDR Output

Nintendo's own store listing puts the Metroid Ravenous file size at 20.2GB on Switch 2, the first hard download figure for the game since its announcement. The listing also confirms 120Hz and HDR output on compatible TVs, amiibo support and a single-player-only campaign, ahead of a worldwide release on 28 January 2027.

Metroid Ravenous is a Switch 2 exclusive. There is no Switch 1 version, no game-key card variant listed, and no second platform — the eShop page lists TV, tabletop and handheld modes on Switch 2 and nothing else.

How big is the Metroid Ravenous file size on Switch 2?

20.2GB, according to Nintendo's product page. That is modest for a Switch 2 release in 2027, and it comfortably fits alongside several other games on the console's 256GB of internal storage even after the system software takes its share.

For scale against recent Switch 2 downloads we have covered: Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter weighs 33.2GB on Switch 2, Oblivion Remastered runs to 61.5GB, and Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is a 130GB install. A 2D Metroid at a fifth of that size is not a surprise, but it does mean you will not need a microSD Express card just to install it.

Store-listed sizes are estimates and can shift before launch, and a day-one patch would add to the total. Treat 20.2GB as the floor rather than the final number.

What the 120Hz and HDR listing actually tells you

The supported-features box lists 120Hz output and HDR output, both qualified as requiring a compatible TV. That is a statement about what signal the console will send in docked mode, not a promise that Metroid Ravenous runs at 120 frames per second.

Nintendo has not published a target frame rate or resolution for either docked or handheld play. Plenty of Switch 2 games carry the 120Hz output flag while targeting 60fps, so the sensible reading is that the game supports the mode and the performance figures are still unannounced. The listing also names surround sound via linear PCM.

Metroid Ravenous price, editions and amiibo

The digital version is $59.99 on the eShop. Retail listings in the US put the standard boxed copy at $69.99 and the Metroid Ravenous: Special Edition at $119.99, with the Special Edition bundling the game, a SteelBook case and a Samus (Metroid Suit) amiibo that is exclusive to that package.

Two further amiibo, a Samus figure and a Chozo Statue figure, are reported to be releasing separately from the Special Edition. Nintendo's store listing confirms the game supports amiibo but does not spell out what the figures unlock, so what you get for tapping one is still unknown. Special Edition pre-orders have already been flipped on resale sites well above list price, which is worth knowing before you pay a premium for one.
