No Rest for the Wicked 1.0 Slips to March 2027, With an Open Beta in December
Moon Studios has pushed the 1.0 launch of No Rest for the Wicked from October 2026 to March 2027, confirming the delay in a post to the game's Steam page on Tuesday. The move affects both the PC version, which has been in Early Access since April 2024, and the PlayStation 5 release that was meant to arrive alongside it.
No exact day in March has been given. The studio also has not said whether the October window will be filled with anything else, though it did commit to more public testing before the full release.

Why the No Rest for the Wicked 1.0 release date moved
The studio's explanation was short and blunt: it is a small team, the build is close, and close is not good enough for a 1.0. The extra months are going into performance, a tighter class system and general polish across the whole game.
That framing matters for anyone who played the Early Access build. Performance has been the loudest complaint against the action RPG since launch, and it is now the first item on the studio's own list of what the delay buys.
The Founders Pack cutoff has quietly moved to January 1, 2027
This is the part worth acting on. The Founders Pack was originally locked to anyone who bought the game on Steam before July 10, 2026 — that window closed nearly two months ago. With the delay, Moon Studios says everyone who buys No Rest for the Wicked on Steam before January 1, 2027 will get the Founders rewards.
The pack has four pieces, and the studio has said they cannot be earned any other way:
- Spirit Cavern, a handcrafted private hideout inside Isola Sacra
- Sayer's Vow, a legendary sword only Founders can own
- The Founder's Tag, a profile marker for pre-1.0 players
- Founder's Test Realm access, which puts you in beta builds of future updates first
The game currently sits at $39.99 on Steam and is playable now in Early Access, including on Steam Deck. Buying in before the new cutoff is the only route to those four items.
Which platforms get it, and which are still waiting
March 2027 covers PC and PlayStation 5. PS5 pre-orders now open in January 2027, and the studio says PlayStation players will be able to earn the Founders rewards at that point rather than losing out for arriving late.
Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 versions still have no date at all. The studio has previously explained that both are held up by memory budget rather than any platform deal — the game streams and simulates its world constantly, and the Series S and Switch 2 need deeper optimisation work before that holds together. Moon Studios has said directly that there is no Sony exclusivity arrangement behind the PS5 going first.
There is an open beta in December
The delay comes with more testing attached. Moon Studios says there will be additional closed and open beta tests over the coming months, and named December 2026 for an open beta. Platforms and sign-up details for that test have not been announced yet.
The studio also says it will schedule a Wicked Inside broadcast soon, its own developer stream, with details going out on its social channels. If you want the March date narrowed down, that is where it will surface first.
What this changes for you right now
If you are on PC and already own the game, nothing breaks — Early Access continues, and you are already inside the Founders window. If you have been waiting to buy, the January 1 cutoff is a real deadline attached to items that never come back. If you are on PS5, there is nothing to pre-order until January.
The wider release calendar keeps shuffling like this. We covered Mortal Shell 2's Early Access rollout and the Blood of Dawnwalker unlock times across PC, PS5 and Xbox, both of which landed on schedule where this one has not. PlayStation owners looking for the next batch of dates have the State of Play on September 3 to watch. Frequently Asked Questions
When does No Rest for the Wicked 1.0 come out?
Moon Studios has moved the 1.0 launch to March 2027, from the October 2026 window announced earlier. No specific day in March has been given yet. The studio says it will share more over the coming weeks, including through a Wicked Inside developer stream it plans to schedule soon.
Can I still get the Founders Pack?
Yes. The cutoff was July 10, 2026, but with the delay Moon Studios now says anyone who buys the game on Steam before January 1, 2027 receives the Founders rewards. That covers Spirit Cavern, the Sayer's Vow sword, the Founder's Tag and Founder's Test Realm beta access, none of which can be obtained any other way.
Is No Rest for the Wicked coming to Xbox or Switch 2?
Both versions are planned but still have no release date. The studio has said the delay on those platforms comes down to memory budget on Xbox Series S and Switch 2, since the game constantly streams and simulates its world. It has also stated there is no exclusivity deal with Sony behind PS5 going first.
When do PS5 pre-orders open?
PlayStation 5 pre-orders open in January 2027, pushed back from the September 2026 window the studio previously pointed to. Moon Studios says PS5 players will be able to earn the Founders rewards at that point, so console buyers are not shut out by the Steam-only cutoff.
Is there a beta before the 1.0 launch?
Yes. Moon Studios says the extra development time means more closed and open beta tests, and it has named December 2026 for an open beta. Platforms, sign-up details and dates for that test have not been announced yet.
