How the US One UI 9 rollout compares with earlier waves
The Galaxy S24 wave crossed from Korea to the US faster than the first wave did. The Galaxy S26 took seven days, going to T-Mobile first in the US, and the Galaxy S25 One UI 9 update reached Verizon four days after Korea.
- Galaxy S26 series: Korea September 16, first US carrier September 23 (7 days)
- Galaxy S25, Z Fold7, Z Flip7: Korea September 28, first US carrier October 2 (4 days)
- Galaxy S24, Z Fold6, Z Flip6: Korea October 6, first US release October 12 (6 days)
The US file is also far larger than the Korean one. In Korea, the first Galaxy S24 Ultra build went to former beta testers as a 480.29MB download. The US carrier Galaxy S24 Ultra package is 3,909.81MB, roughly eight times that.
What One UI 9 changes on the Galaxy S24
One UI 9 on the Galaxy S24, Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 brings a more customizable Quick Panel, updates to Samsung DeX and Samsung Notes, new accessibility options and a location privacy indicator that shows when an app is using your location. It also adds new Galaxy AI features; Galaxy S24 testers first saw Call Brief, My FanCam and custom Now Brief cards in the One UI 9 Beta 2 build for the Galaxy S24.
How to install One UI 9 on a US Galaxy S24
Open Settings, tap Software update, then tap Check for updates. If One UI 9 is offered, follow the on-screen prompts; the US package is close to 4GB. If nothing shows up, the staged rollout has not reached your phone yet. Unlocked Galaxy S24 and Verizon owners should keep checking over the coming days.
