The September 28 Korean start matched the date Samsung's Thai newsroom had listed for this wave, as we covered in our report on the One UI 9 schedule for the Galaxy S25, Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. Samsung has not announced a date for the remaining carriers or for unlocked phones. Samsung's release notes can trail the actual push by a day or two, so a T-Mobile or AT&T Galaxy S25 could see the download before the listing changes.
What the Galaxy S26 rollout suggests for the rest
The Galaxy S26 went through the same steps two weeks earlier. Stable One UI 9 started in Korea on September 16, reached T-Mobile and US Cellular Galaxy S26 phones on September 23, and then landed on AT&T, Verizon and unlocked models on September 28, according to Samsung's release notes and Verizon's update page. That is about five days between the first and last US carriers. If the Galaxy S25 follows a similar gap, the remaining US models would get it in the first half of October, but Samsung has not confirmed that, and the order of carriers was different this time. If you are on Verizon or AT&T, these are the builds to look for. US carrier models share one firmware per phone. The Korean builds were the first stable versions, released on September 28.

Every US build carries Android 17 and the September 2026 security patch. Verizon lists the full software version with a prefix, for example CP2A.260605.016.S938USQUCDZIF on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
How big is the One UI 9 download?
Samsung and Verizon do not publish download sizes. Owner reports from Korea give a good idea: phones already on the One UI 9 beta needed a small patch of about 500MB to 535MB, while phones coming from Android 16 stable software downloaded the full package, about 3.85GB on a Galaxy S25 Ultra and 3.4GB on a Galaxy S25 Edge. The US Galaxy S26 update was about 4.1GB, so plan on roughly 4GB of free storage and a Wi-Fi connection.
How to check for One UI 9 on your Galaxy S25
- Back up your phone with Samsung Cloud, Google One or Smart Switch.
- Connect to Wi-Fi and charge to at least 50%.
- Open Settings and tap Software update.
- Tap Download and install. If One UI 9 is ready for your phone, it shows Android 17 and the download size.
- Tap Install now when the download finishes. The phone restarts and runs a short optimization.
If it says your software is up to date, the update has not been released for your carrier or model yet. Staged rollouts reach phones in batches, so check again every day or two. To confirm which model you have, go to Settings > About phone: a model number ending in U is a carrier model, and one ending in U1 is the unlocked version.
One UI 9 eligible devices
Samsung has not published one complete list of phones that will get One UI 9. Its September 16 One UI 9 announcement does name the devices that support the new AI Privacy Alerts feature, which shows which flagships are on the update path. Here is where each group stands as of October 3:

What One UI 9 adds to the Galaxy S25
Samsung's official release notes for the US Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 list the full One UI 9 changes, and Verizon's notes for the Galaxy S25 series name the same headline features. The ones most owners will notice:
- My FanCam: select a person in a video and One UI 9 follows them and crops out the rest of the frame.
- Now Nudge: suggestions now appear in conversation notifications and in a floating button, not just in the keyboard, including reservation details and addresses.
- Call screen info: related events and other details show up on the call screen during a call.
- Interpreter: in conversation mode you can scroll through the whole conversation while it keeps translating.
- Quick panel: rearrange controls and resize the brightness and volume sliders and the media player.
- Quick lockdown: press and hold Volume down and Side, or tap Power in the quick panel, and the next unlock needs your PIN, pattern or password instead of fingerprint or face.
- Location indicator: a blue indicator appears at the top of the screen when an app uses your location.
- Warranty and care: a new Settings menu for warranty status, self-diagnostics and service options.
- Security alerts in Now Brief: warnings about malware, apps from unknown sources and unnecessary permissions, plus AI privacy alerts for background permission use.
- Samsung Health: a redesigned app with a customizable home screen, sleep vitals, a daily heart health score, cardio load and a fitness index.

We checked Samsung's official software release notes for each US version of the seven phones (carrier models on AT&T, T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile and US Cellular, plus the unlocked U1 models), Verizon's device software update pages, and Samsung's September 16 One UI 9 announcement on its global newsroom. All were checked on October 3, 2026. Korean build numbers and download sizes come from owner reports, since Samsung's Korean release notes were not available.
