Peacock Price Increase Starts Today: Premium Is $12.99, Premium Plus $19.99

Aditya Singh

Peacock is raising the price of every plan it sells, and the new rates land today for anyone signing up or coming back. Peacock Premium goes from $10.99 to $12.99 a month, Premium Plus climbs from $16.99 to $19.99, and the cheaper Select tier moves from $7.99 to $8.99. If you are already subscribed, nothing changes until your first bill on or after 17 September.

It is the fourth increase in four years, and the steepest run of any major US streamer over that stretch. Premium launched at $4.99 in 2020, went to $5.99 in 2023, $7.99 in 2024 and $10.99 last July. At $12.99 it has more than doubled since launch.

What does the Peacock price increase change for each plan?

  • Select — $7.99 to $8.99. Current and past seasons of NBC and Bravo shows plus library titles. No movies, no live sports, no Peacock originals.
  • Premium — $10.99 to $12.99. The full catalogue with ads, including live sports and originals.
  • Premium Plus — $16.99 to $19.99. The same catalogue with most ads stripped out, plus downloads and your local NBC channel live.

The monthly figures are the ones confirmed in published reports. Annual plans have historically worked out cheaper than twelve monthly payments, but the new annual rates were not detailed alongside the monthly ones.

Why now?

The timing is the part worth noticing. Peacock posted its first quarterly profit ever in July, an adjusted EBITDA of $189 million for the quarter ending in June, and added two million paid subscribers to reach 48 million. The increase arrives roughly four weeks after that milestone, not before it.

The sports calendar explains the rest. The Premier League season starts on 21 August across NBCUniversal platforms, and the NBA returns to NBC and Peacock in October with a three-game opening-day slate on 20 October. Both sit behind Premium or higher, which is exactly where the company wants price-sensitive viewers to end up.

How does $12.99 compare with the other services?

It puts Peacock's ad-supported plan at the top of the pack rather than the bargain end. Netflix, Paramount+ and Prime Video all start at $8.99 a month, HBO Max at $10.99, and Disney+ and Hulu at $11.99. Apple TV sits at $12.99, the same as Peacock's new Premium rate. The gap that once made Peacock the obvious cheap add-on has closed.

The one genuinely cheaper route is one you cannot use yet. NBCUniversal and YouTube announced a deal in July that folds Peacock Premium into a YouTube Premium subscription, but that arrives in 2027, not in time for this bill.

What should you do before 17 September?

If you subscribe month to month, you have until your September billing date to decide. Peacock's schedule between now and then is heavy on sport and thin on returning drama, so pausing over the autumn and coming back is a reasonable play if the Premier League is not the draw for you.

If you are cutting one service to fund another, it is worth checking what is actually landing elsewhere first. The Diplomat returns to Netflix in October, Lanterns is running weekly on HBO Max, and Drag Race All Stars 12 is heading to Paramount+. Stacking those against a $19.99 Premium Plus bill is the calculation most households will be making this month.

Downgrading is the other lever. Moving from Premium Plus to Premium saves $7 a month at the new rates and costs you ad-free playback; moving to Select saves $11 but takes away films, originals and every live game.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the new Peacock price hit my account?

New and returning customers pay the new rates from 18 August 2026. If you are already subscribed, the increase applies to your first billing date on or after 17 September 2026, so the exact day depends on when in the month you signed up.

How much does Peacock cost now?

Select is $8.99 a month, Premium is $12.99 and Premium Plus is $19.99. That is a $1, $2 and $3 monthly increase respectively over the previous $7.99, $10.99 and $16.99 rates.

Can I avoid the increase by switching to the YouTube Premium bundle?

Not this year. NBCUniversal and YouTube announced in July that Peacock Premium will be included with YouTube Premium, but that starts in 2027. It has no effect on the bill you get this September.

What is the difference between Peacock Select and Premium?

Select carries current and past seasons of NBC and Bravo shows plus library titles, and leaves out movies, Peacock originals and live sports. Premium adds all of those, which is why it is the cheapest plan that gets you Premier League and NBA coverage.

Is Peacock still cheaper than Netflix and Disney+?

No, not at the entry level. Netflix, Paramount+ and Prime Video start at $8.99 a month, HBO Max at $10.99, and Disney+ and Hulu at $11.99. At $12.99, Peacock Premium is now the most expensive ad-supported plan among the major US services.
