Peacock released the full trailer for Crystal Lake, its Friday the 13th prequel series, on Sunday, and confirmed the show premieres on Thursday, 15 October. The Crystal Lake release date puts all eight episodes on the service the same day, according to published reports, so there is no weekly wait heading into Halloween.
You will need a paid Peacock plan that includes originals to watch it. In the US that means Premium at $12.99 a month or Premium Plus at $19.99.
What is Crystal Lake about?
The series is set before the 1980 film that started the franchise. Linda Cardellini plays Pamela Voorhees, a single mother who still cannot move past the death of her young son, Jason, who drowned in the town lake almost a year earlier. Two strangers arrive at her door and start digging into her past, and things get worse from there.
Anyone who knows the original movie knows where Pamela ends up. The show is betting that the road there is worth eight hours.

Brad Caleb Kane, who worked on IT: Welcome to Derry, is the showrunner, and A24 produces. The project has had a long road. Peacock ordered it to series in October 2022 with Bryan Fuller attached as showrunner, and Fuller stepped away in 2024 before Kane took over.
