Spider-Noir Cancelled by Prime Video, Then Wins Five Emmys Two Days Later

Prime Video cancelled Spider-Noir on 4 September. Two days later, at the Creative Arts Emmys in Los Angeles, the Nicolas Cage series walked away with five statuettes — more than any show on the night except Apple's Widow's Bay, which took eight.

Nothing about the wins changes the decision. There is no second season, and all eight episodes of the only season Prime Video will ever make are still sitting on the service. If you skipped it in May, this is the week the show finally got loud enough to notice.

What did Spider-Noir actually win?

The awards came on night two of the two-night craft ceremony, held on 5 and 6 September ahead of the televised Primetime Emmys. A total of 102 statuettes were handed out across both nights. Spider-Noir took five of them:

  • Cinematography for a Series (One Hour) — for the episode "Step Into My Office"
  • Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode — for "Nightmare On A Gurney"
  • Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour) — for "The Man In The Mask"
  • Title Design
  • Stunt Coordination for Comedy Programming

Every one of those is a craft category, which fits a show whose whole selling point was its look: black-and-white 1930s New York, Cage as private investigator Ben Reilly, and a Marvel property shot like a detective picture rather than a superhero one. It was produced by Sony Pictures Television with Amazon MGM Studios and Marvel Studios.

Why was Spider-Noir cancelled if the reviews were good?

Prime Video has not published a reason, and nobody involved has given one on the record. What is documented is the timing: the series ran eight episodes, arrived on the MGM+ cable channel on 25 May and dropped all at once on Prime Video on 27 May, and was confirmed dead just over three months later. It had already collected 11 Emmy nominations by then, so the awards body and the commissioning body reached opposite conclusions inside the same fortnight.

That gap is not unusual any more. Craft Emmys reward how a show was made; renewal decisions are made on completion rates and cost. A one-season Marvel show shot in stylised monochrome is expensive to produce and hard to sell to a casual scroller, however good the reviews were.

Can another platform pick it up?

Treat any revival talk as unconfirmed. No platform has announced an interest, and Sony has said nothing publicly about shopping it. Rights on a Marvel character licensed through Sony are tangled enough that a straight move elsewhere would be a genuine surprise rather than a formality.

How do I watch it now?

All eight episodes are on Prime Video, included with a Prime subscription in the more than 240 territories where the show launched. It is a complete story arc rather than a cliffhanger-ended pilot season, which makes it an easier weekend watch than most cancelled series. On a TV, the Prime Video app ships on effectively every current streaming stick and smart TV, including Amazon's own Fire TV hardware.

If you want more from the same shelf, Prime Video's other Marvel-adjacent and genre swings are worth a look — the service is also behind the God of War series casting Dave Bautista as Kratos.

Who else won at the craft Emmys?

Apple TV had the strongest night overall. Widow's Bay took eight awards, and Pluribus picked up sound mixing, picture editing and main title theme music — the same stable that gave the service Silo, whose third season just wrapped. Netflix's Stranger Things won Special Visual Effects in a Season or a Movie, and South Park took best animated show for the fifth time and the first since 2013.

The scripted acting, writing and directing categories are still to come. Those are handed out at the televised ceremony on 14 September — here is how to watch the Primetime Emmys and where the platform race stands.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Spider-Noir cancelled?

Yes. Prime Video cancelled Spider-Noir on 4 September 2026 after a single eight-episode season. There will be no season 2, and neither Prime Video nor Sony has given a public reason for the decision.

How many Emmys did Spider-Noir win?

Five, all at the Creative Arts Emmys on 6 September 2026: cinematography for a one-hour series, special visual effects in a single episode, sound editing for a one-hour series, title design, and stunt coordination for comedy programming. It went in with 11 nominations.

Where can I watch Spider-Noir?

All eight episodes are on Prime Video, included with a Prime subscription, in the 240-plus countries and territories where the show launched. It first aired on the MGM+ cable channel on 25 May 2026 before the full season landed on Prime Video on 27 May.

Will another streaming service pick up Spider-Noir?

Nothing has been announced. No platform has confirmed interest and Sony has not said publicly that it is shopping the show elsewhere. Treat any revival report as unconfirmed until one of those parties says so.

Does Spider-Noir end on a cliffhanger?

The eight episodes tell a complete arc rather than stopping mid-story, so the single season works as a self-contained watch even though it will not continue.
