Valor Mortis Price Is $39.99 at Launch on October 13, With a $59.99 Deluxe Edition and No Pre-Orders
Valor Mortis will cost $39.99 (€39.99, 149.99 zł) when it launches on 13 October 2026, developer One More Level confirmed today, and a Deluxe Edition at $59.99 adds a major story DLC due next year. There are no pre-orders: the studio says you will only be able to buy the game once it is out.
The first-person Soulslike from the Kraków team behind Ghostrunner is coming to PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It is also a day-one Xbox Game Pass release, which the publisher, Lyrical Games, confirmed when the game was dated in June.
What does Valor Mortis cost, and what is in the Deluxe Edition?
There are two editions, and the gap between them is $20:
- Standard Edition: $39.99 / €39.99 / 149.99 zł. The base game, with a story the studio puts at about 20 hours.
- Deluxe Edition: $59.99 / €59.99 / 199.99 zł. The base game plus a major story DLC launching in 2027, and several cosmetic packs released between now and then.
The prices above are the ones the developer published in dollars, euros and złoty. Other regional prices were not yet listed, and the Steam page still shows no price or buy button.
The studio also says several free updates are planned for the weeks and months after launch. It has not said what they will contain.
Why is Valor Mortis only $40?
One More Level says it argued about the price for a year, and believes the game's quality and 20-hour story could justify a full-price tag. It went lower because the autumn release calendar is crowded. The publisher has framed the goal as being a game people buy in addition to the season's big launches rather than instead of them, with GTA 6 arriving on 19 November the obvious one competing for the same wallets.
That leaves a clear gap between Valor Mortis and a typical $70 release.
Is Valor Mortis on Game Pass, and which platforms get it?
Yes. Valor Mortis launches on 13 October on:
- PC via Steam
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S, including day one on Xbox Game Pass
The announcement did not name which Game Pass tiers include it. Recent day-one additions have generally landed in Ultimate and PC Game Pass; check the tier when it goes live. The game was first dated for 24 September before moving to 13 October, and the studio said in August that it had gone gold, so the disc version is finished.
Can you still play the Valor Mortis demo?
No. The Steam demo, released in June for Next Fest, went offline on 8 September. The developer said the demo's two levels were bespoke versions of Chapters I and VII that no longer reflect the balancing and optimisation work in the full game, which is why it was pulled rather than updated.

The Steam page lists these specs, which the studio notes were written for the demo and may change for the final release:

What kind of game is Valor Mortis?
It is a first-person action RPG in the Soulslike mould, set in a supernatural version of the Napoleonic Wars. You play William Dowsett, a resurrected soldier of Napoleon's Grande Armée who hears the emperor's voice in his head as a plague spreads across occupied Eastern Europe. Combat mixes period firearms and blades with supernatural powers, and levels are built for Metroidvania-style backtracking. Vincent Cassel voices Napoleon.
