38 Best Android Games Under 100MB in 2026 (Sizes Measured)
The best Android game under 100MB in 2026 is Mindustry — 75 MB, free, open source, no ads, and no in‑app purchases of any kind. We know it is 75 MB because we measured it, along with every other game on this page. That is the part that makes this list different: most “under 100MB” articles are repeating sizes from years ago, and a lot of those games are now three to five times over the line.

Small games matter for real reasons: a phone with no storage left, a data plan you are rationing, a hotspot you are borrowing, or an old device that chokes on anything bigger. So every size on this page is a number we checked on 28 August 2026, not a number we inherited.

How we measured — and why our numbers are a guarantee
Google Play does not publish download sizes on its website. It shows them on your phone, at install time, and only for your phone. So most lists either guess or copy an old figure.
We did something you can check. For each game we measured the size of the complete package: every phone architecture, every screen density and every language bundled together. Modern Android splits that package up and sends your phone only the parts it needs.
That means one useful thing:
If the complete package is under 100 MB, your actual download is definitely under 100 MB. It cannot be bigger. Every game on this page is guaranteed to fit, and most will be noticeably smaller on your device.
| What people usually quote | What we measured |
|---|---|
| A figure from a blog post of unknown age | A live measurement taken on 28 August 2026 |
| One phone's install size, which varies by device | The all-devices package, which is the ceiling |
| Sometimes the game's size at launch, years ago | The current shipping version |
Two honest caveats. First, some games download extra data on first launch — we call that out where it applies. Second, save files grow with play; the install size is a starting point, not a permanent ceiling for total storage used.
Best Android games under 50MB
1. Hoplite — 5 MB
Turn‑based tactics on a small hex grid, and one of the most respected small games on Android. Free with an optional $3.99 unlock, no ads, rated 4.47 from 41,537 reviews. Five megabytes is smaller than a single photo from your camera.
2. Anuto TD — 6 MB
A clean, open‑source tower defence game. Free, no ads, no purchases, rated 4.11. A small community, but nothing about it asks anything of you.
3. Simon Tatham’s Puzzles — 7 MB

Nearly 40 classic logic puzzles in one app. Free, no ads, no purchases, and a 4.89 rating — the highest score of any game in our entire 160‑game test pool, at any size. If you install exactly one game from this page, make it this one.
4. Mekorama — 12 MB

6. Dr. Parking 4 — 23 MB

9. Pixel Wheels — 31 MB
A free, open‑source top‑down racer with no ads and no purchases. It has very few Play ratings, so go in expecting a small indie project rather than a polished commercial game.
10. Shattered Pixel Dungeon — 32 MB

13. Chess by AI Factory — 43 MB

14. Pocket City — 49 MB
$2.99 once, then no ads and no in‑app purchases at all. A complete city builder with no timers and no energy meters, rated 4.29.
Best Android games between 50MB and 100MB

18. Mini Militia — 69 MB

19. Moy 7 — 73 MB
A virtual pet with a 4.62 rating from 877,350 reviews and 100 million‑plus installs. Half the size of My Talking Tom, which is 147 MB.

Free, open source, no ads and no in‑app purchases whatsoever, rated 4.46 from 138,106 reviews and updated July 2026. Factory automation plus tower defence, with local co‑op over a hotspot. The source is public on GitHub, which is why it will never grow an ad SDK.
21. New Star Soccer — 76 MB
4.43 rating from 2.33 million reviews. An entire football career told through quick tap mini‑games. See also our offline football games list.
22. slither.io — 79 MB
500 million‑plus installs, 3.9 rating. Still the simplest online game that works on nearly any phone.
23. Retro Bowl — 81 MB

Free with no ads, rated 4.58 from 509,264 reviews. Pixel‑art American football that is far more addictive than it looks.
24. Doodle Jump — 83 MB
The one‑thumb classic, 50 million‑plus installs, still updated in August 2026. Rated 4.16.
25. Alto’s Adventure — 84 MB
A beautiful endless snowboarder, rated 4.33 from 657,447 reviews. Its sequel Alto’s Odyssey misses the cut at 119 MB, so take the original if space is tight.
26. Kingdom: New Lands — 84 MB
$4.99, no ads, no purchases. A minimalist strategy game where you ride a horse and drop coins. Rated 3.83 — it is deliberately obtuse and not everyone gets on with it.
27. Meteorfall: Journeys — 84 MB
$3.99, no ads, no purchases, rated 4.23. A swipe‑based deckbuilding roguelike you can play one‑handed.
28. Pou — 85 MB

4.53 rating from 4.65 million reviews. Throwing metal balls through glass, and still one of the best‑feeling games on Android.
32. Ballz — 90 MB
A physics brick‑breaker, rated 3.79, 10 million‑plus installs. Simple and endlessly repeatable.
33. Duet — 92 MB

4.65 rating from 484,712 reviews. Two rotating dots, one rule, and a difficulty curve that will hurt you.
34. Sandship: Crafting Factory — 95 MB
Free, rated 4.51 from 189,669 reviews. Factory automation with a story. Last updated August 2024.
35. Fate/Grand Order — 100 MB, right on the line
The smallest major anime gacha RPG on Android, rated 4.0 from 107,516 reviews. It does download more story and voice data as you play, so treat 100 MB as the entry fee, not the total. More in our anime games guide.
36. Flow Free — 100 MB

4.69 rating from 1.55 million reviews and 100 million‑plus installs. Thousands of pipe‑connecting puzzles.
37. Gacha Club — 100 MB
An anime character creator rather than a gacha game, free with ads and no purchases, rated 4.51 from 2.16 million reviews. Last updated August 2023.
38. Fire Emblem Heroes — 84 MB

Free, no ads, published by Nintendo, rated 4.46 from 638,678 reviews and updated July 2026. Turn‑based tactics on a compact grid. It is startling that a first‑party Nintendo game is smaller than most puzzle apps.

Games wrongly listed as “under 100MB”
This is the part we could not find anywhere else, and it is the most useful thing on the page. These games appear on under‑100MB lists constantly. None of them qualify. Here is what we actually measured.
| Game | Real size | Over the limit by |
|---|---|---|
| Subway Surfers | 476 MB | 4.8× |
| Fruit Ninja | 371 MB | 3.7× |
| Jetpack Joyride | 276 MB | 2.8× |
| Solitaire (MobilityWare) | 261 MB | 2.6× |
| Sudoku.com | 203 MB | 2.0× |
| Crossy Road | 200 MB | 2.0× |
| Candy Crush Saga | 199 MB | 2.0× |
| Stack | 175 MB | 1.8× |
| Terraria | 172 MB | 1.7× |
| The Battle of Polytopia | 168 MB | 1.7× |
| Shadow Fight 2 | 163 MB | 1.6× |
| Hill Climb Racing | 161 MB | 1.6× |
| Temple Run 2 | 152 MB | 1.5× |
| Bike Race | 151 MB | 1.5× |
| BombSquad | 150 MB | 1.5× |
| My Talking Tom | 147 MB | 1.5× |
| Plants vs. Zombies | 125 MB | 1.3× |
| Paper.io | 123 MB | 1.2× |
| Alto's Odyssey | 119 MB | 1.2× |
Several of these are still excellent games — Terraria and Plants vs. Zombies especially. They just are not small ones any more.
Where our numbers disagree with everyone else's
We checked the pages currently ranking for this search. Several publish sizes that do not match what we measured, and two of them contradict each other on the same game. Here is the comparison, so you can verify any of it yourself in about a minute using the steps below.
| Game | Size claimed elsewhere | We measured | Under 100MB? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soul Knight | 96 MB on one page, “under 300 MB” on another | 728 MB | No |
| Crossy Road | 82 MB | 200 MB | No |
| Alto's Odyssey | 67 MB | 119 MB | No |
| The Battle of Polytopia | 58 MB | 168 MB | No |
| Subway Surfers | 56.78 MB | 476 MB | No |
| Temple Run 2 | 49.31 MB | 152 MB | No |
| 8 Ball Pool | 100 MB | Larger | No |
| Shattered Pixel Dungeon | 4 MB | 32 MB | Yes |
Two things explain the gap. First, most of these figures were accurate years ago and have been copied from list to list without being re‑checked. Second, a game's size on your screen at install time is not the same as the full package, and neither is the same as what it occupies after its first launch downloads assets.
The clearest example of stale data: Asphalt Nitro. It is still recommended as an under‑100MB pick on more than one page ranking today. We opened its Google Play listing directly on 28 August 2026 and it returns a 404 error, while control listings checked in the same request returned normally. The game cannot be installed at all. That is the risk of size lists that are never re‑measured.
The ad‑free shortlist
If you are choosing a small game, you probably also care about not being interrupted. These are the games under 100 MB with no ads at all:
- Free, no ads, no purchases: Simon Tatham’s Puzzles (7 MB), Anuto TD (6 MB), Unciv (27 MB), Pixel Wheels (31 MB), OpenTTD (64 MB), Mindustry (75 MB)
- Free, no ads, optional purchases: Hoplite (5 MB), Shattered Pixel Dungeon (32 MB), Retro Bowl (81 MB), slither.io (79 MB)
- Paid, no ads, no purchases: Survivalcraft 2 ($3.99), Pocket City ($2.99), Kingdom: New Lands ($4.99), Meteorfall: Journeys ($3.99)
That list — six free games with zero monetisation of any kind, all under 75 MB — is the real answer for anyone who is tired of mobile gaming. See also our roundup of games with no ads.
Why did small games get so big?
Understanding this helps you predict which games will stay small.
- Screen densities. A game shipping art for phones from 720p to 4K carries several copies of every image.
- Ad and analytics libraries. A free game often carries several ad networks plus tracking code. That is tens of megabytes before any gameplay exists.
- Ten years of live service. Subway Surfers has shipped a new themed world roughly every month since 2012, and the old ones stay in the app.
- Uncompressed audio and video. Cutscenes and voice lines dwarf code.
- Modern engines. Unity and Unreal add a runtime before you write a line of your game.
The pattern to notice: the smallest games on this page are open source, or made by one person, or both. Mindustry, Unciv, OpenTTD, Simon Tatham’s Puzzles, Anuto TD and Pixel Wheels all have public source code and no ad networks. That is not a coincidence — it is the whole reason they are small.
How we picked and checked
- We measured all 160 games in our pool rather than testing only the ones we expected to be small. That is how the “wrongly listed” table exists.
- Sizes are the complete all‑devices package, which is a ceiling, not an estimate. Every game listed is guaranteed to be under 100 MB on your phone.
- Every Play listing was opened on 28 August 2026 in the US store for price, ads, in‑app purchase range, rating, review count and last‑update date.
- We flagged first‑launch downloads. Fate/Grand Order in particular pulls a lot more data after install, and we say so rather than letting the 100 MB figure mislead.
- We flagged stale listings — Mekorama, Gacha Club, Mini Militia and Sandship have all gone more than a year without an update.
- We dropped one game that qualified on size. Krunker FRVR is 38 MB but carries a 2.85 rating and has not been updated since March 2024, so it did not earn a recommendation.
- Package IDs were verified against developers, because clone apps in this size range are rampant and roughly half our name‑based lookups returned the wrong game.
Transparency note: the store data in this guide — prices, ratings, review counts, install bands, update dates and download sizes — was collected programmatically from Google Play and re‑checked by hand on 28 August 2026. Rankings and verdicts are editorial judgment based on that data plus each game’s track record; this is a data‑driven analysis, not a frame‑rate‑tested hardware review, and we say so rather than pretend otherwise. Found an error? Tell us and we will fix it.
How to check any game’s real download size yourself
- Open the game’s Google Play listing on your phone, not on a computer. Play only shows download size on the device that would install it.
- Tap Install and read the confirmation. The size appears next to the Install button and in the confirmation sheet before the download starts. You can back out without installing.
- For an already installed game, use Settings. Go to Settings, then Apps, pick the game, then Storage and cache. “App size” is the install; “User data” is everything it has downloaded since.
- Play once, then check again. This is the step people miss. Many games double or triple in size on first launch. Compare App size against User data to see how much extra arrived.
- Sort your games by size to find the worst offenders. In Settings, Storage, then Apps, tap the sort control and choose size. One forgotten game is often more than every game on this page combined.
Bottom line
Install Mindustry (75 MB, free, no ads, no purchases) as the best game under 100MB, and Simon Tatham’s Puzzles (7 MB, 4.89 rating) as the best value in absolute terms. Add Hoplite at 5 MB and Shattered Pixel Dungeon at 32 MB and you have four excellent games using 119 MB total — less than one install of Alto’s Odyssey.
If you will pay once, Bloons TD 6 at $6.99 and 66 MB has the highest rating of any paid game here, and Survivalcraft 2 gives you a whole 3D sandbox in 32 MB.
Do not trust any list that still calls Subway Surfers, Fruit Ninja or Candy Crush small — we measured them at 476 MB, 371 MB and 199 MB.
Do this next: open Settings › Storage › Apps on your phone and sort by size. Whatever sits at the top is almost certainly bigger than every game on this page put together — delete that one, and you have room for all of them.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best Android game under 100MB?
Mindustry, at 75 MB. It is free, open source, carries no ads and no in-app purchases of any kind, holds a 4.46 rating from 138,106 Play reviews, and was updated in July 2026. It combines factory automation with tower defence and includes local co-op over a hotspot. If you want the highest-rated small game instead, Simon Tatham's Puzzles is 7 MB with a 4.89 rating.
How did you measure these game sizes?
We measured the complete shipping package for each game -- every phone architecture, screen density and language bundled together -- on 28 August 2026. Android splits that package and sends your phone only the parts it needs, so the figure we publish is a ceiling. If a game is listed here as under 100 MB, your actual download is guaranteed to be under 100 MB and usually smaller.
Is Subway Surfers under 100MB?
No, and it has not been for years. We measured its full package at 476 MB, which is nearly five times the limit. Other games commonly listed as small that do not qualify include Fruit Ninja at 371 MB, Jetpack Joyride at 276 MB, Crossy Road at 200 MB, Candy Crush Saga at 199 MB, Hill Climb Racing at 161 MB and Temple Run 2 at 152 MB.
What is the smallest good game on Android?
Hoplite at 5 MB, a turn-based tactics game rated 4.47 from 41,537 reviews with no ads. Anuto TD is 6 MB and Simon Tatham's Puzzles is 7 MB with nearly 40 logic puzzles and the highest rating in our whole test pool at 4.89. All three are free, and none of them will ever ask you for anything.
Are there good games under 100MB with no ads at all?
Yes. Six are free with no ads and no in-app purchases whatsoever: Simon Tatham's Puzzles at 7 MB, Anuto TD at 6 MB, Unciv at 27 MB, Pixel Wheels at 31 MB, OpenTTD at 64 MB and Mindustry at 75 MB. Among paid games, Survivalcraft 2, Pocket City, Kingdom: New Lands and Meteorfall: Journeys have no ads and no purchases either.
Why are mobile games so much bigger than they used to be?
Four reasons: art shipped at several screen densities, ad and analytics libraries bundled into free games, a decade of live-service content that never gets removed, and modern engines like Unity that add a runtime before any of your game exists. Notice that the smallest games on this page -- Mindustry, Unciv, OpenTTD, Simon Tatham's Puzzles -- are open source with no ad networks. That is exactly why they stayed small.
How do I check a game's download size before installing it?
Open the Play listing on your phone rather than a computer, since Play only shows download size for the device that would install it. Tap Install and the size appears next to the button and in the confirmation sheet, and you can back out without downloading. For a game you already have, go to Settings, Apps, the game, then Storage and cache.
Do these games stay under 100MB after I play them?
Mostly, but not always. The measured size is the install. Save data grows as you play, and a few games download extra content on first launch -- Fate/Grand Order is the clearest example here, since it pulls a lot of story and voice data after the 100 MB install. Check Settings, Apps, then Storage and cache after your first session and compare App size against User data.
