One UI 9 Release Date for Galaxy S25, Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 Is September 28, Samsung Confirms
Samsung has put a date on One UI 9 for last year's flagships: the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 are scheduled to start getting the stable Android 17 update on September 28. The date comes from Samsung Thailand's official newsroom, which also lists September 21 for the Galaxy S26 series and October for the Galaxy S23 FE.
Until now, Samsung had only dated the update for the S26 family. For anyone holding a 2025 Galaxy flagship, this is the first official date to plan around. It is a Thai schedule, though, so read it as a strong hint for other countries rather than a promise.

The official One UI 9 dates so far
Samsung's Thai announcement sets out three waves. Samsung's Canadian newsroom separately gives September 21 as the Canadian start date for the S26 series, which suggests the two countries share a timetable.
- Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra: September 21 in Thailand and Canada. South Korea has had the update since September 16.
- Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7: September 28 in Thailand.
- Galaxy S23 FE: sometime in October in Thailand, with no exact day given.
Both September dates fall on a Monday, one week apart. Samsung has used week-by-week waves like this for earlier One UI releases, so the next group of devices could plausibly follow on another Monday in October. Samsung has not confirmed that.
What this means outside Thailand
Samsung usually starts a stable One UI release in South Korea, then moves to large parts of Europe and Asia within days. The United States typically comes later because carriers test their own builds. No US date has been announced for any device, including the S26. Unlocked phones generally get updates before carrier-locked ones.
The Thai post does not say which S25 models are covered. Samsung's own list of One UI 9 devices names both the Galaxy S25 and S25 FE separately, so do not assume the FE moves on the same day as the S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra.
What about the Galaxy S24 and S23?
Neither is on the dated list yet. Both series are still in the One UI 9 beta, which the S25 and last year's foldables have also been part of, as our earlier coverage of the beta expansion explains. The S24 is already on its second beta, detailed in our One UI 9 Beta 2 report.
The Galaxy S23 got a new beta build today. According to reports, it carries firmware ending in ZZI8, weighs about 700MB and fixes Galaxy Buds connection problems, Contacts app crashes, Bixby Vision translation and a video-recording bug. The Galaxy A56 is getting a beta build ending in ZZI7. Neither phone has a stable date. Coming this close to the stable releases, these builds look like final checks, with early October the likely window.
How to get One UI 9 on a Galaxy S25, Fold7 or Flip7
Updates arrive over the air in stages, so not every phone in a country gets it on day one. From September 28:
- Open Settings > Software update > Download and install.
- Keep the battery above 30 percent and connect to Wi-Fi. The S26 download is around 650MB, and a similar size is likely for the S25.
- Back up your phone first with Samsung Cloud or Smart Switch. The update does not wipe data, but a jump to a new Android version is the time to be careful.
Beta testers should get a smaller package that moves them to the final build without a reset. The main additions are the same as on the S26: My FanCam video reframing, editable Now Brief cards, a smarter Now Nudge, a Warranty and Care page in Settings, and on-device Privacy Alerts. For the full feature list, see our One UI 9 stable rollout report. As always with Samsung, some features depend on your country, language and carrier.
Frequently Asked Questions
When will the Galaxy S25 get One UI 9?
Samsung Thailand says the stable One UI 9 update starts reaching the Galaxy S25 series on September 28, 2026. That is an official date for Thailand. Other countries are likely to be close, but Samsung has not published a worldwide schedule, and US carrier models usually arrive later.
Is One UI 9 coming to the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7?
Yes. The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 are on the same September 28 date as the Galaxy S25 series in Samsung Thailand's schedule. Both phones are also in the One UI 9 beta, so testers should be able to move to the stable build.
When will the Galaxy S24 and S23 get stable One UI 9?
Samsung has not dated either one. Both series are still in the One UI 9 beta, and the Galaxy S23 received a new beta build (ending ZZI8) on September 17. Reports point to early October for the stable release, which fits Samsung's pattern of adding a new group of devices each week.
When does One UI 9 arrive in the US?
There is no US date yet for any Galaxy phone. Samsung has confirmed September 21 for the Galaxy S26 series in Canada and Thailand, while South Korea has had it since September 16. US models usually follow once carriers finish their own testing.
How do I check for the One UI 9 update?
Go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. The phone needs at least 30 percent battery, and Wi-Fi is recommended because the update is roughly 650MB on the Galaxy S26. If nothing appears, check again over the next few days, since Samsung releases the update in stages.
