- On 4 October 2026 we opened every game’s live US Google Play page. We wrote down developer, price, ads label, shop range, score, ratings, age rating and update date. Update dates can be one day off, depending on your time zone.
- For SYBO’s games we also read SYBO’s press release and news reports.
- We searched Google Play for “subway surfers” and “subway runner” and wrote down the lookalikes that came up. We did not install them.
- We read the pages that rank for this search, plus Bing’s results and AI summary. None showed an ads label or update date for each game, and none covered Subway Surfers City or the lookalike problem.
- We left out Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! (shut down in 2023) and Spider-Man Unlimited (shut down in 2019).

Subway Surfers on PC, Switch and in a browser
- In a browser: Poki hosts Subway Surfers by SYBO. SYBO expanded its Poki partnership on 12 November 2025 to add Blast and Match, PocketGamer.biz reported.
- Google Play Games on PC: Google lists both Subway Surfers and City in its PC store. We could not read those pages, so check them yourself.
- Steam and Switch: we found no official Steam or Nintendo Switch version.
How often does Subway Surfers update?
- Wikipedia says the original gets a World Tour city about every three to four weeks.
- On 4 October 2026, Google Play’s “What’s new” for the original said Buenos Aires was the current season. City had a new district, Phantom Park, and said a new season would start on 7 October.
- Is it shutting down? We found no sign of it. In SYBO’s January 2026 press release, CEO Mathias Gredal Nørvig said Subway Surfers “continues to experience remarkable success year after year.” Kiloo Games, the original co-developer, reportedly shut down in 2023, which may be why people ask.
Games like Subway Surfers with no ads
This is a common search. The honest answer: all 12 games above show the ads label. Here is what we found that does not, or that lets you remove them:
- Subway Surfers+ on Apple Arcade has no ads and no in-app purchases, per Apple. You need an Apple Arcade subscription.
- Sonic Dash Run and Sonic Boom Dash say in their listings that “ad-free play is available with an in-app purchase.”
- Sonic Prime Dash is only for Netflix members. Its Google Play page shows no ads label and no shop. It is a 3D runner with Sonic, rated Everyone.
- Super Mario Run is a one-touch runner, not a lane runner. It is free to try and has no ads label. A one-time $9.99 unlock opens everything, per its listing.
