Gemini 4 Argon Reaches Google AI Pro at $19.99 a Month, No Longer Limited to Ultra
Google started rolling out Gemini 4 Argon to Google AI Pro subscribers in the Gemini app on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, after the model launched for Google AI Ultra only. Google's release notes say the rollout is global, so it covers US subscribers, and Google's US plans page lists Gemini 4 Argon with AI Pro at $19.99 a month.

- Model: Gemini 4 Argon, Google's newest frontier model
- Rollout start: October 13, 2026, worldwide, according to Google's release notes
- Who gets it: Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app
- US price: AI Pro $19.99 a month; AI Ultra from $99.99 a month
- Not included: the free tier and Google AI Plus ($4.99 a month)
Which Google AI plans get Gemini 4 Argon?
Gemini 4 Argon is available on Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra, the two most expensive Gemini plans. Google announced the model at the end of September, and at that point Gemini app access was reported as Ultra-only, a plan that starts at $99.99 a month in the US. Tuesday's rollout cuts the cheapest way to use Gemini 4 Argon in the app to $19.99 a month.
Google AI Plus is not part of this rollout. Google's US plans page lists Gemini 3.6 Flash for AI Plus and puts Gemini 4 Argon only under AI Pro and AI Ultra. Free users are not getting Argon either; since October 9, most of their prompts go to Flash-Lite, as we explained in our report on the free tier's switch to Auto.
What changes for AI Pro subscribers
Gemini 4 Argon joins the models AI Pro subscribers can already pick. The table compares the Gemini plans after Tuesday's rollout, using Google's US plans page and published reports on the model picker.
| Plan | US price per month | Gemini 4 Argon | Other models listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | No | Auto, mostly Flash-Lite |
| Google AI Plus | $4.99 | No | Gemini 3.6 Flash |
| Google AI Pro | $19.99 | Yes, from October 13 | Gemini 3.1 Pro, 3.8 Flash |
| Google AI Ultra | From $99.99 | Yes | Gemini 3.1 Pro, 3.8 Flash |
Reports describe the AI Pro and Ultra model picker as listing 3.5 Flash-Lite, 3.8 Flash, 3.1 Pro and 4 Argon. Google's plans page does not mention Flash-Lite for those tiers, so treat that entry as reported rather than official. Usage limits still differ by plan: Google rates AI Pro at 4x the free tier, and AI Ultra at 5x or 20x AI Pro depending on the subscription.
What Google says Gemini 4 Argon does better
Google pitches Gemini 4 Argon at complex, multi-step work. Its release notes give examples such as analyzing financial reports, building slide decks from scattered sources and creating interactive 3D models. Google also says, in published comments, that Argon answers more directly with less hedging, follows style instructions more reliably than earlier Gemini models, and reports its progress more often on long tasks.
Those are Google's claims, not independent test results. Coding gets the biggest push: on the Mac, Google's same-day update lets the Gemini desktop app hand a coding task to an Antigravity agent. That feature is macOS-only and does not change the Android app.
How to find Gemini 4 Argon on your phone
Gemini 4 Argon shows up in the Gemini app's model picker, which sits inside the Ask Gemini prompt box. Open the picker and choose 4 Argon. Google calls this a rollout, so some AI Pro accounts will see the option later than others, and Google's note does not break the timing out by platform. If you get Gemini through the power button on a Pixel phone, the same account and plan apply, as explained in why you can no longer switch back to Google Assistant.
Gemini 4 Argon comes weeks before another Gemini change for subscribers: on November 17, Gems become skills, which we covered in what happens to your Gems.
