Genshin Impact 7.1 Special Program Starts at 8 AM ET, and It Drops Redemption Codes
HoYoverse airs the Genshin Impact 7.1 Special Program at 8:00 AM EDT today, 12 September, on the game's official YouTube and Twitch channels. The studio has confirmed the broadcast will drop redemption codes on top of the Version 7.1 content reveal, which is why this particular hour matters more than any other in the patch cycle.
The codes are account-wide, not platform-specific. Whether you play on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, Android or iOS, one redemption per account is all you get, and the reward lands in your in-game mail on every device you sign in from.

When the Genshin Impact 7.1 Special Program starts
HoYoverse listed the slot as 08:00 on 12 September in UTC-4. That works out to the following:
- 5:00 AM PDT (Los Angeles)
- 8:00 AM EDT (New York)
- 12:00 UTC
- 1:00 PM BST (London)
- 5:30 PM IST (India)
- 8:00 PM CST (China)
- 9:00 PM JST (Japan)
Both the YouTube and Twitch streams run simultaneously. There is no in-game broadcast, and no separate replay window is announced in advance, though the YouTube upload normally stays available afterwards.
How many codes drop, and what they are worth
HoYoverse has committed only to "some redemption codes and other goodies". It has not said how many, or what is inside them.
Every special program for the past several versions has followed the same shape: three codes, each carrying 100 Primogems plus one small material bundle, for 300 Primogems in total. That is under two Wishes. Treat the split as the established pattern rather than a promise — the count has moved before, and nothing about 7.1 is confirmed until the codes appear on screen.
The codes are usually shown in the back half of the broadcast, spread across segments, not read out in one block at the end. If you are watching only for the codes, that is roughly 30 to 45 minutes in.
How to redeem the codes before they expire
These livestream codes are the short-lived kind. Historically they stop working about 24 hours after the broadcast, which is a much tighter window than the permanent codes we track in our running list of working Genshin Impact codes. Redeem the same day.
There are two routes, and which one you use depends on your platform:
- In-game, any platform: open the Paimon Menu, then Settings, then Account, then Redeem Code. PlayStation players have to use this route.
- Web: sign in to your HoYoverse account on the official redemption page, pick your server, and paste the code. The page does not accept accounts linked through PlayStation Network.
You need Adventure Rank 10 or above either way. Rewards arrive as in-game mail rather than dropping straight into your inventory, so claim the attachment once it lands.
What Version 7.1 is expected to cover
Version 7.0, "Everwinter Without Mercy", took the story into Snezhnaya, and its second banner phase went live on 27 August. The stream is where 7.1's characters, banner order and event line-up get confirmed.
HoYoverse has not published a Version 7.1 release date. The game's six-week patch cadence points at late September, and the studio's own site carries nothing beyond the Special Program announcement itself. Anything circulating about specific banner characters ahead of the broadcast is leak material, not confirmation.
One date is fixed regardless: Genshin Impact launched on 28 September 2020, so the game's sixth anniversary falls two weeks out, and anniversary rewards are normally detailed around this point in the cycle.
Version 7.1 will roll out to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, Android and iOS together, as previous versions have. If you play on a recent Pixel, it is worth reading our note on the Genshin Impact rendering problem Google confirmed on the Pixel 11 before you download a fresh build. For the state of play going into this stream, our breakdown of the 7.0 Phase 2 banners with Flins and Ineffa covers what is currently live, and HoYoverse's other gacha titles run the same code system, as our Honkai Star Rail code list shows.
Frequently Asked Questions
What time is the Genshin Impact 7.1 livestream?
The Version 7.1 Special Program starts at 8:00 AM EDT on 12 September 2026, which is 5:00 AM PDT, 12:00 UTC, 1:00 PM BST and 5:30 PM IST. It airs on the official Genshin Impact YouTube and Twitch channels at the same time.
Are there redemption codes in the 7.1 Special Program?
Yes. HoYoverse confirmed in its announcement that the broadcast will drop redemption codes, though it did not say how many or what they contain. Past special programs have given out three codes worth 100 Primogems each, plus a small material bundle with each one.
How long do Genshin Impact livestream codes last?
Livestream codes are not permanent. They have historically stopped working roughly 24 hours after the broadcast ends, so redeem them the same day. Permanent codes handed out through events and social posts last far longer.
How do I redeem a Genshin Impact code on PlayStation?
PlayStation players cannot use the web redemption page, because it does not accept accounts linked through PlayStation Network. Open the Paimon Menu in-game, go to Settings, then Account, then Redeem Code, and enter it there. You need Adventure Rank 10 or above.
When does Genshin Impact Version 7.1 come out?
HoYoverse has not announced a release date for Version 7.1. The game runs on a six-week patch cadence, which points at late September, and the Special Program is where the date is normally confirmed alongside the banner line-up.
