Honkai Star Rail 4.5 Update Is Live: 3.9GB on Android and iOS, 7.4GB on PC

Aditya Singh

The Honkai Star Rail 4.5 update went live on 26 August after a five-hour maintenance window, and the patch weighs about 3.9GB on Android and iOS against 7.4GB on PC. Titled "To Roll the Stars in Astropolis", it landed on all four platforms at once — Android, iOS, PC and PlayStation 5 — with Robin • Summeretto headlining the first banner half.

Servers went down at 06:00 (UTC+8) and came back at 11:00 (UTC+8). That is 4am BST on 26 August, and 8pm PDT on 25 August. Pre-installation had been open since 14:00 (UTC+8) on 24 August, so anyone who preloaded only had to run a short unpack step instead of the whole download.

What the Honkai Star Rail 4.5 update downloads on each platform

Mobile gets the smaller package this time. Android and iOS pull roughly 3.9GB, while the PC client takes about 7.4GB. HoYoverse has not published a figure for the PlayStation 5 version, which usually installs a considerably larger package than the PC build.

Those numbers cover the patch alone. Optional voice-over packs — Japanese, Korean and Chinese sit on top of English — add to the total, and the client needs free headroom beyond the download size to unpack everything. On a phone that is close to full, the update stalls at the install step rather than the download step. Clear the space before you start it.

  • PC: about 7.4GB
  • PlayStation 5: size not published

How much Stellar Jade the maintenance paid out

Every account at Trailblaze Level 4 or above before maintenance began receives 300 Stellar Jade, delivered to the in-game mailbox. That is the standard 60 Jade per hour of downtime across a five-hour window. Mail expires after 30 days, so claim it rather than leaving it sitting.

HoYoverse often issues a second payout in the days after a version launch to cover bugs fixed post-release, and players are expecting one here. Nothing of the sort has been announced for 4.5, and 300 Jade is the only confirmed figure. If you are counting pulls, count that and nothing else. Redeem codes are the more dependable top-up, and we keep a running list of working Honkai Star Rail redeem codes.

Who is on the 4.5 banners and when phase two starts

Phase one is live now. Robin • Summeretto is the new 5-star, a Wind character on the Path of Remembrance whose kit accumulates "Vibes" that convert into team buffs when allies attack. Her signature Light Cone is Rise and Sing. Hyacine reruns alongside her.

Phase two arrives on 12 September with Aventurine • Waveflair, a 5-star Quantum character on the Path of Elation built around stacking Punchline and Fervor to trigger enhanced Elation skills. His Light Cone is Summer Rides the Surf, and Ashveil reruns in that half. Both new units are alternate summer variants of characters already on the roster, not additions to it.

What is new in Astropolis

The Trailblaze Continuance moves the story to Astropolis, an Interastral Peace Corporation stronghold the Trailblazer reaches while looking for help with the crisis on Planarcadia. Lodestar Tower and Skycall Aery open as new areas inside it.

Two events run across the version. Overdrive: Whirlwind Grand Prix is a racing event that casts you as a team principal building a crew; Minuscule Great Adventure is a lighter run of stage challenges. Planar Fissure and Realm of the Strange double-drop periods return, and the Divergent Universe adds Arcadian Chronicles with new Supplicant's Masks, Equations and Curios. A story dialogue speed-up option is also in, which helps anyone pushing through the Continuance quickly.

Large gacha patches are routine on Android now, and 3.9GB is a light one by the standards of the genre — Wuthering Waves 3.6 asked for 13GB on Android and iOS. Our round-up of the best gacha games for Android compares install sizes and pity systems across the field, and the current Genshin Impact code list covers the other half of HoYoverse's mobile output.
