Fire Emblem Heroes 10.9.0 went live on 8 September, and it introduces an entirely new class of unit called Vista Heroes alongside seven weapon refines. The update is free on Android and iOS, weighs 29.75MB on Android, and pulls an additional download once the app reopens.

Nintendo took the servers down for maintenance to push it. The rollout landed at 5 p.m. PT on 7 September, which is 9 a.m. JST on 8 September, so most players outside Japan woke up to the patch already applied.

What Vista Heroes do in the Fire Emblem Heroes 10.9.0 update

Vista Heroes are a new hero type that can hand their unique status scene and extra stats to a different Hero. Summoning one gives you two things at once: the Hero itself, and a strengthening item called a Vignette. That second item is the part worth watching, because it is what carries the bonus across to the unit you actually field.

They debut in the New Heroes summoning event tied to Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, which opened the same day the patch shipped. The entry search filter has also been widened to cover Fire Emblem Shadows and Fortune's Weave, so units from both now surface when you filter your barracks by title.

Divine Games starts on 13 September

The other headline addition is not live yet. Divine Games opens on 13 September and strips Heroes of their usual enhancements — inherited skills and support effects are switched off for the duration. In their place you pick two Divine Arts from a pool of six at each stage, and the effects you choose stack forward through five consecutive battles.

It is a constructed-team mode in reverse: the units matter less than the order you draft your Arts. Anyone who has ground out a specific build should note that none of it applies here.

Which weapons got refines

Seven weapons picked up new refine options in this version:

  • Absolute Amiti (Elincia)
  • Obscurite (Veyle)
  • New Levin Sword (Felix)
  • The Inexhaustible (Bernadetta)
  • Majestic Glitnir (Alfonse)
  • Fiery Fang (Mordecai)
  • Exalt's Tactics (Robin)

Two of those units also received fresh skills. Veyle: Gentle Dragon gains the B skill Atk/Res Unrest, which enables Canto (1) and scales its penalties with the number of bonuses and penalties in play, plus the C skill Fell Protection+. Elincia: Undaunted Queen gains Heavenly Soar, a B skill that lets her move through spaces occupied by foes, and the C skill Heart of Crimea II.

Combat Manuals, Aether Raids and the smaller changes

The Limited-Time Combat Manual line-up has rotated. Divine Codes (Ephemera 9) drop from events and exchange for manuals covering Felicia, Claude, Corrin, Hana, Marth, Silas and Homer. The compilation window closes at 11:59 p.m. PT on 27 October 2026, which is the date to diarise if you are short on codes.

In Aether Raids, the Catapult (O/D) level cap moves up to 16. Summoner Duels raises its Favor Level cap to 7,100, though that change takes effect on 15 September rather than immediately. Heroic Grails add two units: 5-star Ivy: Tidal Breeze and 4-star Boucheron: Big Softy. The Concert Hall gains new tracks, including "Farewell" from Three Houses and music from Fortune's Weave.

One bug fix is listed. An issue that crashed the app during startup on some iOS devices has been resolved, so iPhone and iPad players who could not get past the splash screen should install this before assuming their save is gone.

Should you update straight away

Yes, if you are on iOS and had startup crashes, and yes if you want to summon from the Fortune's Weave banner at all. At 29.75MB the Android package is small enough to grab on mobile data, though the extra in-app download afterwards is the larger part of the wait. Fire Emblem Heroes remains one of the lightest games of its type. Nintendo's other cross-platform release this week is the Pokemon Champions Z Mega Evolutions update, which lands on Switch and mobile on 9 September.
