Google Pixel Connected Camera Reportedly Adds Zoom, Teams, Meet and 8 More Apps, for 16 in Total

Google Pixel phones are reportedly getting Connected Camera support in 11 more apps, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, WhatsApp and Discord, through a Pixel Camera Services update on the Play Store that surfaced on Thursday, October 8. The change would take the feature from five supported apps to 16, so Pixel owners could switch to a second Pixel, a GoPro or a USB camera in the middle of a video call.

  • Feature: Connected Cameras on Google Pixel
  • Delivered by: a Pixel Camera Services update from the Play Store, reportedly version 4.1.977867365.00
  • New apps (reported): 11, bringing the total to 16
  • Official status: Google has not announced the expansion, and its help page still lists five apps

Which apps does Pixel Connected Camera support now?

Google's own Pixel help page lists five supported apps for Connected Cameras, all built around posting and streaming: Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok. According to reports on the new Pixel Camera Services build, the update adds 11 communication and work apps on top of those five.

AppStatus
Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTokSupported (listed on Google's help page)
Google Meet, GmailAdded in the new update (reported)
Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Skype for BusinessAdded in the new update (reported)
WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, DiscordAdded in the new update (reported)

The shift matters because the original list served creators. The new list covers the apps people use for work calls and group chats, which is where a second camera angle for a product demo or a whiteboard is most useful.

Which Pixel phones can use Connected Cameras?

Not every Pixel can connect to every camera. Google's help page splits support three ways, and the expansion reported this week does not change the hardware rules.

  • Pixel 6 and later, except Pixel 10 and A-series: can connect to another Pixel phone (again excluding Pixel 10 and A-series), a GoPro or a USB camera.
  • Pixel 10 and Pixel A-series (Pixel 6a and later): GoPro and USB cameras only, with no Pixel-to-Pixel link.
  • Pixel Tablet: USB cameras only.

USB cameras must follow the USB Video Class (UVC) standard. Only one external camera can be connected at a time, both devices must be signed in to your Google Account, and the audio comes from whichever camera is live. If you own an A-series phone such as the Google Pixel 9a, that means a GoPro or webcam works, but a second Pixel does not.

How to turn on Connected Cameras on a Pixel

Connected Cameras has its own switch in Pixel settings. These steps come from Google's Pixel help page:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Connected devices, then Connection preferences, then Connected Cameras.
  3. Turn on Use Connected Cameras.
  4. Open a supported app. A Camera Picker appears; tap Add Pixel to link another Pixel, or plug in a USB camera and allow USB access. A GoPro must first be paired from Settings > Bluetooth.
  5. Tap a device in the Camera Picker to switch to it, and tap My Pixel to return to the phone's own camera.

Pixel-to-Pixel links also need cross-device services turned on for both phones.

Why you may not see Zoom or Teams yet

Pixel Camera Services updates through the Play Store, so the new app support arrives as a component update rather than with a monthly system update like the Pixel October 2026 update. Google has not published release notes for the expansion, and the Play Store listing for Pixel Camera Services in the US still showed a September 16 update date when we checked on October 9. Play Store updates usually reach phones in stages, so if Zoom or Teams does not show the Camera Picker yet, update Pixel Camera Services from the Play Store and check again in a few days.

Connected Cameras is separate from the main Pixel Camera app, which added a Launch Mode shortcut and redesigned Quick Access dials in Pixel Camera 11.0 in August.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Pixel Connected Camera work with Zoom and Microsoft Teams?

According to reports from October 8, 2026, a Pixel Camera Services update on the Play Store adds Connected Camera support to Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Slack and seven other apps. Google has not announced it, and its help page still lists only Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok.

Which Pixel phones support Connected Cameras?

Google says Pixel 6 and later phones can use Connected Cameras. Pixel 10 and Pixel A-series phones from the Pixel 6a onward can only connect to GoPro and USB cameras, while other Pixel 6 and later models can also link to a second Pixel phone. The Pixel Tablet supports USB cameras only.

Where is the Connected Cameras setting on a Pixel?

Open Settings, tap Connected devices, then Connection preferences, then Connected Cameras, and turn on Use Connected Cameras. Then open a supported app and use the Camera Picker that appears to add a Pixel, a GoPro or a USB camera.

Can I use a GoPro as a camera on my Pixel?

Yes. Pair the GoPro from Settings > Bluetooth on your Pixel, then open a supported app; the Camera Picker shows the GoPro when it is ready to connect. Google notes the connection can take some time, and only one external camera can be connected at once.

Do I need to install anything to use Pixel Connected Cameras?

No separate app is needed. Connected Cameras runs through Pixel Camera Services, a system component that comes preinstalled on Pixel 6 and newer phones running Android 12 with the March security patch or later. Keeping Pixel Camera Services updated in the Play Store is how new supported apps arrive.
