This is the strangest thing we found while checking this page, and it is worth knowing before you paste anything into your emulator.
Several pages ranking on Google right now for Pokemon Crystal list codes that cannot possibly be Crystal codes. You can spot them yourself:
- Codes starting with 94000130 are Nintendo DS Action Replay codes. The DS launched years after Crystal and uses completely different hardware. These belong to games like Pokemon SoulSilver or Black 2.
- Eight-character pairs like 509197D3 542975F4 are Game Boy Advance GameShark v3 codes. That particular one is the walk-through-walls code for Pokemon Leaf Green, not Crystal.
- Real Crystal GameShark codes are eight characters long, in the shape 01xxYYZZ or 91xxYYZZ. If a "Crystal" code does not look like that, it is from another game.
Nothing bad happens if you enter one — a Game Boy emulator will simply reject or ignore it. But it wastes your afternoon, and it is why so many people conclude Crystal cheats are broken when they are not.
