Where do the items actually appear?

This trips up more people than any bad code. The item cheats do not drop things into your bag. They rewrite the first slot of your PC item storage.

1. Turn the code on
2. Walk into any Pokemon Center
3. Use the PC → Item Storage → Withdraw Item
4. Take out up to 99
5. Turn the code back off

Replace XXXX with the National Dex number in hexadecimal. For every Pokemon from #1 to #251, the game's internal ID equals the Dex number, so that conversion is the whole trick.

Anything not listed? Take the Dex number from Bulbapedia, convert it to hex in your phone calculator's programmer mode, pad to four digits. Dex #60 becomes 003C.

How to enter Leaf Green cheat codes

On Android (My Boy!, Pizza Boy GBA)

1. Load the ROM and reach the overworld first
2. Tap the menu icon → Cheats → New cheat
3. Name it, paste the code, one line per line, no extra spaces
4. Save, then tick the box to enable it

4 mistakes that corrupt your save

• Walking off the map edge. With walk-through-walls on, crossing the boundary can lock the game somewhere no reset escapes.
• Using an EU or JP ROM. These addresses are USA-only. On another region the same code scribbles over unrelated memory.
