How much is a refurbished Google Pixel 9?
A refurbished Google Pixel 9 costs $499 on the Google Store, $300 below its original $799 price. When we checked the store on October 13, the base Pixel 9 was listed only in Obsidian and was out of stock. The Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL could be added to the cart in Obsidian and Hazel, with 128GB and 256GB storage options shown.
The full refurbished lineup is now down to two generations. No Pixel 7 model is listed any more, and Google adjusted the Pixel 8 prices as the Pixel 9 arrived, according to reports. Here is what the US store charges today, against each phone's original retail price as Google lists it:
| Model | Refurbished price | Original price | You save |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pixel 9 Pro XL | From $699 | $1,099 | $400 |
| Pixel 9 Pro | From $649 | $999 | $350 |
| Pixel 9 | From $499 (out of stock) | $799 | $300 |
| Pixel 8 Pro | From $549 | $999 | $450 |
| Pixel 8 | From $389 | $699 | $310 |
| Pixel 8a | From $339 | $499 | $160 |
The table also shows an odd gap. The refurbished Pixel 8 Pro, at $549, now costs $100 less than a refurbished Pixel 9 Pro, while the refurbished Pixel 9 sits $50 under the Pixel 8 Pro. Both phones get 7 years of updates counted from their own US launch dates, and because the Pixel 9 went on sale later, its support window also ends later.
What comes with a Certified Refurbished Pixel
Google says every Certified Refurbished Pixel passes a multi-point quality test, is restored with authentic Google Pixel parts and ships with the latest applicable software. The box holds a 1-meter USB-C to USB-C cable, a Quick Start Guide, a Quick Switch Adapter and a SIM tool, with no charger. The phones can be paid off with Google Store Financing at 0% APR over 36 months, which works out to $13.86 a month for the $499 Pixel 9.
Software support does not reset. Google promises 7 years of OS and security updates for the Pixel 8 and later, counted from the date each phone first went on sale on the US Google Store. A refurbished Pixel 9 bought today is a 2024 phone, not a new one. For how Google's current monthly patches are reaching older Pixels, see our Pixel October 2026 update report.
Who gets the free Google AI Plus trial?
Early reports described the Google AI Plus offer as a perk for the refurbished Pixel 9 Pro models, but Google's own terms name three phones: the Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 8 Pro. Buyers get a six-month Google AI Plus trial. The offer is limited to US residents aged 18 or older who are new subscribers, and it must be redeemed by April 4, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. PT.
After the trial, Google AI Plus renews at $9.99 a month unless canceled, and Google warns that returning the phone may cancel the subscription. The promo code arrives by email after purchase and has to be redeemed on the refurbished Pixel itself.
Refurbished Pixel 9 or a new Pixel?
A $699 refurbished Pixel 9 Pro XL costs $200 less than the $899 Pixel 11, the cheapest model in the current lineup, whose US prices we broke down in our Made by Google 2026 pricing guide and our report on the Pixel 11 price increase. Buyers who want a new phone near the refurbished Pixel 9's price can compare it with the Google Pixel 9a specs.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a refurbished Pixel 9 from Google?
Google's US store sells the Certified Refurbished Pixel 9 for $499, the Pixel 9 Pro from $649 and the Pixel 9 Pro XL from $699. Those prices are $300, $350 and $400 below each phone's original retail price. The base Pixel 9 was out of stock on October 13, 2026.
Is a Google Certified Refurbished Pixel unlocked?
Yes. Google says every Certified Refurbished Pixel sold on the Google Store is unlocked and compatible with any carrier, so it works on Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and other US networks. It also carries the same one-year warranty as a new Pixel.
Can I buy a refurbished Pixel 9 Pro Fold from Google?
No. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is not part of Google's Certified Refurbished program. The US Google Store lists only the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL from the Pixel 9 family, alongside the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8a.
How long will a refurbished Pixel 9 get updates?
Google gives the Pixel 8 and later 7 years of OS and security updates, counted from when each model first went on sale on the US Google Store. Buying a Pixel 9 refurbished does not restart that clock, because the Pixel 9 series launched in 2024.
Which refurbished Pixels come with a free Google AI Plus trial?
Google's terms name the refurbished Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 8 Pro. Buyers get a six-month Google AI Plus trial, open to new subscribers who are US residents aged 18 or older. The offer must be redeemed by April 4, 2027, and then renews at $9.99 a month unless canceled.
