Black Ops 7 Season 06 Starts September 17 at 9am PT, and It Runs Only Four Weeks

Activision has dated Season 06 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone for 17 September at 9am PT, and buried in the Ranked Play notes is the detail that matters more than any of the Halloween decorations: the season is set to run just four weeks. Every previous Black Ops 7 season has run roughly twice that. The update lands on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One and PC at the same moment, with Warzone players getting it free.

The season is called The Haunting, the Halloween event Call of Duty has run since 2020. This year it carries a DOOM crossover, a rethemed Warzone Resurgence map and two new base weapons — and a battle pass you will have less time than usual to finish.

Why Black Ops 7 Season 06 only runs four weeks

Activision did not headline the shortened runtime. It appears in the Resurgence Ranked Play section, where the studio explains it is testing changes to skill-rating progression in the Diamond and above tiers: "Because the season is already set to last just four weeks, it provides a useful opportunity to test changes and collect data over a shorter, lower-impact period." The studio says it is deliberately over-indexing on those SR adjustments so the results are measurable, with a full breakdown due in the Season 06 patch notes.

Both Multiplayer and Resurgence Ranked Play are flagged as shortened. Activision has not published an end date, so treat four weeks as the studio's own framing rather than a confirmed calendar slot. The practical read for anyone buying the pass: the grinding window is roughly halved.

What the Season 06 battle pass costs and what is free

The Season 06 battle pass is 1,100 COD Points. The Battle Pass Bundle is 2,400 COD Points and adds 20 tier skip tokens. Completing the pass returns 200 COD Points, and Activision lists "up to 1,100 COD Points" as earnable across the track, which is the studio's standard self-funding structure.

Two new base weapons are free for everyone, no purchase needed:

  • VMP SMG — Page 3 completion reward
  • TR51 Para assault rifle — Page 6 completion reward
  • Arcblade melee weapon and Roc 20mm special — earned through in-game events rather than the pass

The pass is fronted by a new operator, Blackjack, and carries more than 100 items excluding BlackCell. Buying it immediately unlocks a 10% XP boost, the Blackjack skin, a "Double Down" legendary blueprint for the Gremlin SMG, an emote and a decal. BlackCell adds the Revenant operator and an "Aeternum" Mastercraft blueprint for the AN-94; no BlackCell price was listed.

The DOOM crossover and what each mode gets

The DOOM tie-in runs as a limited-time event pass spanning Endgame, Multiplayer, Zombies and Warzone. Rewards include a Doom Slayer operator, a Doom Guy operator skin, the Roc 20mm special weapon, a Crucible Blade and a DOOM Shotgun.

Multiplayer gets two 6v6 medium maps: Quantum, a new map set in an Arctic quantum computing facility, and Bloodstead, a horror retheme of Homestead. A limited-time mode called T.E.D.D. Trials brings three Zombies maps — Roadkill, Inferno and Lost — into 6v6 competitive play for the first time in Black Ops 7. Hordepoint and Freeze Tag return later in the season rather than at launch.

Zombies adds a survival map, Tenshu, set in the Masaki family castle, plus Directed Mode and a Starting Room variant for Rex Infernus. Rogue Run gets new pedestal rewards including Pack-a-Punch IV and Golden Armor. In Endgame, night falls on Avalon and a Forbidden Summoning event arrives.

What Warzone players get on 17 September

Warzone's Resurgence map Haven's Hollow becomes Haunted Hollow, with a Ghost Train, a gravity vortex at the Mansion, a fire at the Lumbermill and cosmic tentacles over the skyline. The map-exclusive limited-time mode is Giant Infected: 64 players, eight of them infected from the start, with survivors racing to gather DNA samples and detonate a DNA bomb before they are overrun.

Six new weapon camos come from Winstreak Challenges across Battle Royale, Resurgence and Black Ops Royale. Resurgence Ranked Play runs on Rebirth Island, Fortune's Keep and Haven's Hollow. Warzone is free to play, so none of this requires owning Black Ops 7 — though the battle pass is shared between the two games.

Where this sits in the Call of Duty calendar

A four-week season lands Black Ops 7 in an unusual spot, because the next mainline entry is already in the pipeline — we covered the Modern Warfare 4 beta adding a playable campaign mission, a first for the series. Activision has not said whether Season 06 is Black Ops 7's last, and players asking whether unlocks will carry forward do not have an official answer yet. Anything on that front is currently unconfirmed.

Black Ops 7 is on Game Pass, and September's wave separately added Black Ops Cold War — see our rundown of the Game Pass September additions and departures. If you are on PlayStation instead, the PS Plus September line-up is live. And if the four-week grind is not for you, Warzone Mobile's siblings are covered in our list of the best battle royale games on Android.

Frequently Asked Questions

What time does Black Ops 7 Season 06 start?

Season 06 goes live on 17 September at 9am PT, which is 12pm ET and 5pm BST. Activision says the update unlocks at the same moment across all platforms, so there is no staggered regional rollout.

Which platforms get Black Ops 7 Season 06?

PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One and PC all receive the update. Warzone is free to play on those same platforms, so you do not need to own Black Ops 7 to play the Haunted Hollow content.

How much is the Season 06 battle pass?

The battle pass is 1,100 COD Points. The Battle Pass Bundle costs 2,400 COD Points and includes 20 tier skip tokens. Completing the pass returns 200 COD Points. Activision has not published a price for the BlackCell upgrade.

Are the new Season 06 weapons free?

Yes. The VMP SMG and the TR51 Para assault rifle are both free base weapons, unlocked at the Page 3 and Page 6 completion rewards on the battle pass track. You do not need to buy the premium pass to earn them.

How long does Black Ops 7 Season 06 last?

Activision says the season is set to run four weeks, which it cited as the reason for testing Ranked Play skill-rating changes over a shorter window. The studio has not published a specific end date, so the four-week figure is its own framing rather than a confirmed calendar entry.
