FFXIV Patch 7.56 Maintenance: All Worlds Offline for 4 Hours

FFXIV goes offline tonight. Square Enix takes every Final Fantasy XIV World down at 11:00 p.m. PDT on Monday, September 7 and expects service back at 3:00 a.m. PDT on Tuesday, September 8 — a four-hour window to deploy Patch 7.56, with the usual caveat that the finish time can move.
The downtime is not platform-specific. Every version of the game stops at the same moment: PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch 2 release. If your World is on the list, and they all are, you are logged out.
FFXIV patch 7.56 maintenance times where you are
The four-hour block converts to 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Eastern on Tuesday, and 06:00 to 10:00 UTC. That lands at 07:00 to 11:00 in the UK, 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in India, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Japan and 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Australia's east coast. European and Asian players lose a chunk of Tuesday daytime rather than a night.
What stops working, and when
Two things go dark half an hour early, at 10:30 p.m. PDT. Data Center Travel is suspended from that point and stays down until maintenance ends, so cross-data-centre hopping is off the table before the servers themselves drop. Mog Station account services follow the same 30-minute head start.
- All Worlds — offline 11:00 p.m. PDT to 3:00 a.m. PDT
- Data Center Travel — suspended from 10:30 p.m. PDT
- Mog Station — Home World Transfer, Character Renaming, and item and gift code entry all suspended from 10:30 p.m. PDT
- FFXIV Companion app — unavailable for the duration, so no market board sniping from your phone
- The Lodestone — under its own maintenance in the same window, though News and Topics stay readable
One item in the notice is worth acting on before you log off: duty recorder data captured before this maintenance can no longer be replayed afterwards. Anything you wanted to rewatch needs watching tonight.
What Patch 7.56 brings
Square Enix has updated the Patch 7.5 special site ahead of the release. The publisher points to new main scenario quests continuing the Trail to the Heavens arc, battles awaiting beastmasters in the Crucible of the Unbroken, and a new hairstyle handed out as a reward. Full patch notes are not published until the servers come back, so the exact job adjustments and bug fixes are still unknown.

Two other deadlines land at the same time
PvP Series 11 closes the moment maintenance begins. Trophy crystals earned during the series carry over to the next one, and Series 11 rewards stay claimable until the end of Series 12 — so there is no rush to spend, but there is a hard stop on earning tonight.
The bigger one is money. The complimentary subscription period for the Nintendo Switch 2 version ends Monday, September 7 at 11:59 p.m. in each region, and standard fees begin on September 8. The Switch 2 release needs its own subscription even if you already pay for the game on another platform, although Square Enix offers a half-price Nintendo Switch 2 Subscription Discount to players with an active subscription elsewhere. Anyone registering the Starter or Complete Edition from September 8 gets a 30-day free play period first.
Watch the automatic billing. If you have already set up payment, the subscription fee is deducted from your FFXIV Coins balance the moment the free play period expires. The Free Trial is unaffected and stays free. Switch 2 owners weighing the cost may also want to read our note on the Switch 2 price increase in the UK.
After the patch, the Moogle Treasure Trove event starts on September 9. Square Enix has plenty else in flight this month too — the publisher's Tokyo Game Show 2026 lineup puts several unreleased titles on the show floor.
Is this an outage or planned downtime?
Planned. This is a scheduled patch deployment announced in advance, not a server failure, so there is nothing to troubleshoot on your end and no status page to refresh. Unplanned outages do happen in live-service games and look very different — see what happened during Marathon's update 1.1.5.4 downtime for the contrast. Scheduled windows like this one, or Nintendo Switch Online's August maintenance, come with a published end time.
Frequently Asked Questions
What time does FFXIV maintenance end today?
Square Enix expects all Worlds back at 3:00 a.m. PDT on Tuesday, September 8, which is 6:00 a.m. Eastern, 10:00 UTC, 11:00 in the UK and 7:00 p.m. in Japan. The notice states the completion time is subject to change, so an overrun is possible. Maintenance began at 11:00 p.m. PDT on September 7.
Why is FFXIV down right now?
It is planned maintenance to deploy Patch 7.56, not an outage. Square Enix announced the window in advance on the Lodestone. There is no fault on your connection or console, and no status page will show a resolution earlier than the published end time.
What does FFXIV Patch 7.56 add?
Square Enix has confirmed new main scenario quests continuing the Trail to the Heavens story, beastmaster battles in the Crucible of the Unbroken, and a new hairstyle as a reward. The complete patch notes are published when the servers return, so the full list of job changes and fixes is not yet known.
Do I have to pay for FFXIV on Nintendo Switch 2 now?
Yes. The free subscription period for the Switch 2 version ends at 11:59 p.m. on September 7 in each region, and standard fees start on September 8. The Switch 2 version requires its own subscription separate from other platforms, though a half-price discount applies if you already have an active subscription elsewhere.
Can I use the FFXIV Companion app during maintenance?
No. The Companion app is unavailable for the whole four-hour window, along with Data Center Travel and Mog Station services such as Home World Transfer, Character Renaming and code entry. Mog Station and Data Center Travel actually go down 30 minutes earlier, at 10:30 p.m. PDT.
