Gemini Nano 4 Docs Confirm Only 7 Phones Get Google's Newest On-Device AI

Google has quietly named the first seven phones cleared to run Gemini Nano 4, its newest on-device AI model, by updating its ML Kit GenAI developer documentation this week. The list covers all four Pixel 11 models plus three of Samsung's newest foldables, and nothing else.

The devices are the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, Pixel 11 Pro Fold, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. No other phone, including last year's Pixel 10 line, currently appears on the nano-v4 list.

What Gemini Nano 4 unlocks

Nano 4 is the engine behind Gemini Intelligence, the umbrella Google uses for features that run inference directly on the phone instead of sending requests to the cloud. Google's documentation ties Rambler, its voice-typing feature that cleans up rambling speech into readable text, and Proactive Assistance, the rebuilt version of Magic Cue, to this generation of the model. Task automation that can act across more than 40 apps also depends on it.

Getting listed does not mean every feature is live everywhere at once. Right now, Rambler and the widget-generating Create My Widget tool are working only on the four Pixel 11 models. Samsung's three foldables have the Nano 4 model on board but are still waiting on those specific features to reach them, even though the hardware qualifies.

Why the list is this short

Google's requirements explain the narrow cut. A phone needs at least 12GB of RAM, a flagship-tier processor, on-device AI Core integration, and security and software-support commitments that match Google's bar for Nano v3 or newer. That combination currently rules out mid-range and even some older flagship phones, which is why Pixel 10-series devices are absent despite running Gemini features of their own through earlier Nano versions.

For Samsung, the cut lands specifically at this year's foldables. Regular Galaxy S26 models are not on the nano-v4 list, at least as documented so far, which suggests Google and Samsung are treating the newest foldables as a separate hardware tier for now — the same phones that already got extra screen-zoom tools ahead of most of Samsung's lineup.

What owners of these phones should check

• Update Google app, Android System Intelligence, and your phone's OS to the latest build — Nano 4 features roll out through system updates, not a single app install.
• On a Pixel 11, look for Rambler inside any text field that supports voice typing, and check the widget picker for Create My Widget.
• On a Galaxy Z Flip 8, Fold 8, or Fold 8 Ultra, expect Proactive Assistance and the expanded task automation first; Rambler and Create My Widget are not yet listed as available on these phones.

Documentation pages like this one are usually the earliest public signal of what a company is planning, well before a feature is announced with a press release. The same list also functions as an early spec floor for whichever phones follow the Pixel 11 and this year's foldables — expect the 12GB-RAM, flagship-chip bar to carry over to future Nano 4 devices too. That requirement also lines up with why Google changed the Pixel 11's modem supplier and how it priced the lineup at the Made by Google launch event — the RAM and silicon Nano 4 needs do not come cheap.

Google has not said when the remaining features will reach Samsung's foldables, or whether older Pixels could ever qualify through a future software update. For now, the seven phones on this list are the only ones confirmed to run Google's latest on-device model at all.
