God of War Laufey editions compared
There are only two editions, plus an upgrade path. The difference between them is a cosmetic-and-gear set, a resource pack, a mini artbook and the soundtrack, for $10 more.
| What you get | Standard Edition ($69.99) | Digital Deluxe Edition ($79.99) |

The Digital Deluxe Upgrade costs $10.00 on PlayStation Store and adds the same Deluxe content to a Standard Edition you already own, so buying Standard now does not lock you out of the extras later. Sony's listing ties the upgrade to owning the Standard Edition on the same PlayStation account.
What the God of War Laufey pre-order bonus includes
Every edition bought before February 16, 2027 gets the same three items:
- Last Wish Armor Set for Faye
- Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance, a cosmetic skin
- In-game resource pack
Two details sit in the fine print. First, the armor and the cosmetic unlock through story progression, so they will not be equipped in the opening minutes. Second, the physical Standard Edition delivers the bonus as a download code that requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account to redeem; Sony's page says the code expires on February 16, 2037. A secondhand disc bought after launch may not include a working code.
What's in the God of War Laufey Digital Deluxe Edition?
- Dark Alchemy Armor Set
- Dark Alchemy Blade
- Dark Alchemy Bow Scales
- Dark Alchemy Catalyst
- In-game resource pack
- Digital mini artbook
- Official God of War Laufey digital soundtrack
Like the pre-order items, the four Dark Alchemy pieces unlock as you progress through the story. The Bow Scales are more than a skin: each set of Scales on Faye's bow carries its own perk, so the Deluxe set changes how the bow plays as well as how it looks. The Deluxe Edition is digital only, and Sony has not announced a physical collector's or steelbook edition.
Which God of War Laufey edition should you buy?
- Buy the Standard Edition on disc ($69.99) if you want to resell or lend the game later, or you have a PS5 with a disc drive and limited storage budget. You still get the full pre-order bonus via code.
- Buy the Standard Edition digitally ($69.99) if you only care about the game. You keep the option to add the Deluxe content later for $10, so there is no penalty for waiting until you have played a few hours.
- Buy the Digital Deluxe Edition ($79.99) if you already know you want the Dark Alchemy gear, the soundtrack and the artbook. It costs the same as Standard plus the upgrade, so it saves you nothing beyond convenience.
- Wait if you are unsure. The pre-order items unlock mid-story and amount to one armor set, one cosmetic and a resource pack, and PlayStation Store pre-orders can be cancelled before launch under Sony's rules (see below).
For context, the last mainline game, God of War Ragnarök, launched at the same $69.99 standard and $79.99 Digital Deluxe prices, so Laufey holds Sony's pricing steady rather than moving to $79.99 for the base game.
How to pre-order God of War Laufey (and cancel if you change your mind)
- Digital: open PlayStation Store on your PS5 or the web, search "God of War Laufey", pick Standard or Digital Deluxe and select Pre-Order. The game can auto-download to your console before launch.
- Disc: pre-order the physical Standard Edition from a US game retailer at $69.99. The pre-order bonus comes as a code inside the box.
- Cancelling a digital pre-order: under Sony's US PlayStation Store cancellation policy, if you paid more than 14 days before release you can cancel any time before February 16, 2027 for a refund. Once you start downloading the game (including pre-loading), you lose that right unless the game is faulty.
Is God of War Laufey on PC or PS4?
No. Sony lists God of War Laufey for PlayStation 5 only. There is no PS4 version and no announced PC version. Earlier entries such as God of War (2018) and Ragnarök reached PC well after their console launches, but Sony has said nothing about a PC release for Laufey. The official page does confirm PS5 Pro enhancements using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) for sharper 4K output.
What else Sony revealed: Faye's Serpent Bow
The pre-order announcement also introduced the Serpent Bow, Faye's main ranged weapon. It has two aiming modes: a full aim for precise shots that can hit weak points to slow or disarm enemies, with up to five arrows stacked into one charged volley; and a hip-fire stance for clustered shots at close range. The bow has its own unlockable skill tree, and its Scales change both appearance and perks.
Gear customization splits into the Blade for her sword, Scales for the bow, and Catalysts, magic artifacts with different effects. Armor sets carry separate perks and stats. The game is set in a realm Sony calls the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods.
How we verified this
Every price, edition item and date here was checked on October 3, 2026 against Santa Monica Studio's pre-order announcement on the PlayStation Blog, the official God of War Laufey page on playstation.com, the live US PlayStation Store listing for the Digital Deluxe Edition, and Sony's US PlayStation Store cancellation policy. Nothing here comes from leaks or retailer placeholder listings.
Bottom line
God of War Laufey is $69.99 for the Standard Edition and $79.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition, on PS5 only, from February 16, 2027. Most players should pre-order the Standard Edition (disc if you like to resell, digital if you might upgrade later for $10) and skip the Deluxe unless the Dark Alchemy gear and soundtrack matter to you.
