TT Games design director Jimmy Sedota laid out how the expansion plays in a developer post on Monday, four days before release. Here is what it contains, what it costs, and which platforms it lands on.

How much does the LEGO Batman Mayhem Collection cost?

The store listings do not show a standalone price for the Mayhem Collection. On both PlayStation and Xbox it sits inside the Deluxe Edition, and the studio's FAQ says standard owners get it by buying the upgrade. The pricing breaks down like this:

What is in the Mayhem Collection?

The headline addition is a story mission in which The Joker and Harley Quinn break out of Arkham Asylum. It draws on Batman: The Animated Series and shows Harley's origin as Dr. Harleen Quinzel. There is also a shop called Sorkin's Gems, a nod to Arleen Sorkin, who first voiced the character.

How Mayhem Mode works

Mayhem Mode flips the base game's objectives. Instead of stopping crime, you rob shops, smash ATMs, spray graffiti, steal cars and fight off A.R.G.U.S. agents and Task Force X before the timer runs out. Studs picked up during a run pay for permanent upgrades and cosmetics back at the hideout.

Combat changes too. The Joker and Harley use new ranged gadgets and can keep moving while they fire, which TT Games describes as run-and-gun play. That is a different rhythm from Batman's close-quarters campaign fighting.

Which platforms get the Mayhem Collection?

The game is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, and the Mayhem Collection is listed for September 18 on the PlayStation and Xbox stores. The Nintendo Switch 2 version launches worldwide on the same day, with pre-orders already open. The FAQ does not say whether Switch 2 buyers get the DLC on day one, so treat that as unconfirmed.

Co-op is unchanged: the game supports two-player local co-op only, with no online play. The developer post does not say whether Mayhem Mode supports a second player. On Xbox, the game is cloud-playable for Game Pass Essential, Premium and Ultimate members, but you still have to buy it. It is not a Game Pass library title, so it will not appear in this week's Xbox Game Pass day-one games.

Is the upgrade worth it?

For $24.99 you get two content drops: the three launch packs you may have skipped, plus a new mission, a replayable mode and two new playable characters. If you only want The Joker and Harley, there is no cheaper route yet. If you have not bought the game yet on PS5, Xbox or PC, the $89.99 Deluxe Edition costs $5 less than buying the standard game and the upgrade separately.
